"What could have been"! Part of the process of a @redbullairrace is looking back post race to see what we did well and what we didn't. It's how we learn and how the team improves from race to race.
For the race in Lake Balaton, Hungary, I found comfort in the track from the very first lap. However, due to bad weather and technical difficulties at the race airport on Friday, practice was limited to just Saturday morning.
My comfort on the track should have been a sign that I was "ready" to push the limits of the track limit lines in Qualifying, which would create more risk for penalties, but also provide the opportunity for faster lap times.
For whatever reason, we chose a more consistent approach to this race. In the end, I think our strategy cost us a couple of seconds in the Round of 8 and perhaps even a chance for a Final 4 birth.
Lesson learned. Time to risk more in Japan. We are tied on 4th in points with 37. If we "rock it" in Japan, there is an opportunity to finish the 2019 season with another podium Placing. You can bet that we will give it 110%. We know of no other way!! Thanks so all of our friends and supporters.
