I have a secret I am about to let out, so shhhh.
Well, you are still reading.. you little nosey posey! There is no hiding the fact that I am a foodie. I love food. Especially good quality LOCAL food. Usually when I am in a new place, I try to find one hole in the wall place that I can brag about for the rest of the trip.
I would like to announce, I was the queen of finding Mexican hidden gem restaurants and cafes in Playa Del Carmen. There are two ways that I do this and they are highly contradicting:
1. I go down the sketchy alleyways (during the daytime). There are so many great local places just by going down the alleyways of major touristic strips. I ate at a house-turned restaurant and ate the best chicken and rice soup ever in Mexico.
2. I FOLLOW THE LINES. Look where locals are going (if it’s a line of tourists— keep walking)! I waited twenty minutes in a line that was out the door for some fajitas in Cozumel. AND boy was it worth it! AND CHEAP! For 3 USD we got way more than we could handle. That is also how I found this brunch place by the water that locals attend after mass on Sundays.
How do you find tasty local eateries?

Happy to discover a new country with you soon - @freculor
Hiking Yosemite was one of the best hikes we have had as a family yet. The trails were very easy to walk on and the kids loved how big everything was there. This is Joe’s favorite National Park yet. #MarionMarked#yosemite
Solo roadtripping has given me a lot of time to think. It didnt give me too much time to relax as I had a deadline to meet (Carlos and Kajal's wedding), 2000 km to conquer, a business to run and part time job to keep. So I am very thankful for this last day before the wedding and the mad rush to get back to England as I think I found heaven on earth!
If you would have told me at any point in my life that I would have made this journey on my own. I'd have laughed... A nervous laugh. Even just last month I wasn't sure I would actually make it! But I have! I can't wait for tomorrow to see the love and happiness of Carlos and Kajal and all their friends and family and then to begin on the road home.
But right now lying in this hammock, swimming in that lake, eating fresh salad, cheese and bread and relaxing is what I need.

This was my happy place for so long and so many reasons. Me and my German shep cassy Walked here lots twenty years ago. Leaving here to go back to kent was the only decision I could make back then. But I’m loving visiting here again I can’t lie. Researching setting for the book is coupled with a fab day out in the country with Jas. I’m one lucky human.

Happy Friday — met this Cuban gentleman who worked as a bouncer in a popular Budapest restaurant “Havana Salsa Bar” . He told me about his previous life in Cuba as a police officer & how he fled the island to live in Hungary for the last 15-20yrs.
What a great guy, super joyful.

This quote really struck me.
It can be applied to many different topics, but with me it immediately made me think of time.
There is a common mistake people make when they achieve their goals—a mistake that takes them back down. The best way to understand this mistake is to illustrate it. Let us say that a person has a goal of having a million dollars in their bank account soon, and now they have $ 4,000 in their account. So they do all the right things—set their goals, visualize, get certain, act, and do all that. They keep their vision of that million high, and they achieve it. Now when that account shows one million dollars, they get happy, of course, then they make the mistake. They start looking at the bank account, trying to maintain their precious old goal, worrying when it drops below their goal level, and so on. They switch their sights from that of an unachieved higher goal, and they start looking at the achieved past goal. They start living in the past, trying to maintain the past. Then they start worrying, and it goes on like that until they lose that million dollars. They stop doing what they were doing right in the first place to get to their goal, and they start living as they used to. Always set your goals higher than your present reality.
It means that you should enjoy every day without worry. You should not worry about losing what you have. You should not worry about maintaining that million you just made. Instead, make the million, and enjoy making it and having it. But when you reach that million, do not switch to worrying about keeping it. Instead, set a new higher goal and keep your eye on that new goal while you enjoy your old successes without worrying about maintaining them. In any case, it is folly to worry, as the worry itself is what will bring you down.
Leaping into a new adventure like...
Love this shot from @backpackwithme. There’s something so refreshing about leaving something or somewhere where you feel stuck in a rut. Have you ever handed in your notice at work or booked a 6 month trip to work abroad? That rushinggg feeling of both relief and adrenaline can be both incredibly exciting and a tiny bit scary haha.
I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the rise of remote working and what a great time it is for people to create opportunities/lifestyles for themselves thanks to the internet. Obviously a lot of that comes with great privilege, but it’s definitely a step forward for people who feel more productive and creative when not working in an office.
I’d love to know if any of you have ever worked remotely or have chosen not to work a traditional 9-5 office job! Have you ever just dropped everything to take on an exciting opportunity that included being able to travel? Let me know below, will share some of the best responses on the GTW stories later this eve 🌴

Sometimes the world seems a little too bright for me. Too fast, too busy, too much of everything that doesn’t really matter.
But here, in my little corner, I can make it shrink. Take it down to the size of my breath.
I knew this bus would be an adventure, a way to see more of the world, but I never expected it to become a place I could also block the world out.
The news outlets blare their agendas. The masses fight, the land burns, and it swells into a crescendo of deafening proportions that makes my heart bleed as I try to take it all in.
But then I come back to this mat. Breathe. Remember what’s important. Release fear, and sit in gratitude.
Waking up in the middle of the night,
Leaving bed early,
Skipping TV shows,
Turning off WIFI,
Cancelling all the plans,
Staying consistent when no one is appreciating,
Don't worry, one day you will feel proud for doing all these things.
BE YOUR OWN FAN,
BE YOUR OWN HERO.
I am doing all this from past 10 years and trust me these proved to be the best decisions of my life. •
Working 16 hours for your passion and having sleepless nights is love, TRY IT. •
