Today wasn’t about my time. This wasn’t my race, it was hers. ❤️🐞💜
Ask me about Laurel
Ask me about @beatnb .
Ask me how much we raised to research Neuroblastoma
Ask me about the team
Ask me how you can get involved .
Ask me about the crowd
Ask me how many times I cried, cheered on other runners, stared out to the ocean, felt her with me and channeled her strength. .
I stayed with my team and family because this was a team effort. . #teamlaurel#beatnb#morethan4#wecandobetter . #falmouthroadrace2019#falmouthroadrace#falmouth#capecodrunner
I DID IT! I finished a race and didn’t pull any muscles on the cool down! But all of it almost got derailed yesterday. This is Jennifer, the real hero of today. On Friday my phone died, my watch died, my computer keyboard died... and it was my daughters birthday so I really didn’t put @falmouthroadrace as the top priority. I’ll detail more of my Saturday (day before the race) in my blog later this week... but we saw the expo closed at 8:00 somewhere and really didn’t think beyond that because we just tried to do too much and this was supposed to be a training run so I wasn’t very focused on getting things right. I had no phone all day so I didn’t think to look anything up to confirm 8:00. We get onto the cape and Matt asks me to use his phone to get directions to the specific location and I see the expo closed at 4:00... it was already 5:30. WTF! I’m assuming there’s no way I can run now... but...we roll up at 6:30 anyway and by some miracle this woman was there with ONE extra, unassigned number for one of the most prestigious races in the country! ONE number: 13,714 which she quickly reassigned to ME! She apologized for not having the goodie bag or pins or my name on it or my Seeded number that allowed me to start up closer... but I don’t do it for the frills. I just wanted to start and finish something I signed up for... and I DID! •
After I finished she saw me and was so happy and I was so grateful I asked for a selfie. The race was HOT! I ran in the 7:12/mi range (not sure official time... not even sure if I’ll be in the results). This was supposed to be a training run but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t all I had today. It was hot, it was hillier than I thought, and I fought like hell for this time... it’s over 7 minutes slower than my fastest 7 miler... I missed my old self a lot during this execution... the self talk was negative.... but the fight was there!... I’ll be back Falmouth, with a MUCH LOWER number next time! (Swipe for splits) #falmouthroadrace#falmouth#runnersofinstagram#raceresults#postpartumrunning#14total#thelastcomeback#marathontraining#eriemarathon#bqhopeful#fightforit#mckirdytrsined@_sneakerama_
I ran my first @falmouthroadrace thanks to Keith 🏃🏻♀️! At first I was mad (he signed me up and told me after-the-fact)...but only because I knew I was wildly out of shape. I had a lot of built-up anxiety leading up to this, but the event, despite reaching almost 100% humidity, was awesome. Thank you to family and friends who shared their words of encouragement and to all the random spectators who made the effort to support a struggling stranger. It meant a lot! Now we just have to keep this up so I can earn a better time next to year (hope we get in)! #falmouthroadrace#roadrace#falmouth#wedidit

A rare day out of the office so enjoyed a trip to #Coverack with the family... This picture was taken about 15 minutes before it decided to absolutely bucket it down and we all got soaked ☔... #britishsummertime#familyday
After an amazing time at @woofstockuk we made our way further along the coast today to #falmouth where we had another lovely coastal walk up to the Castle.

Consistency is key 🔑
Most of us are training for a specific reason... the most common ones we come across are “I want to lose weight”, “I want to get stronger”, “I want to get leaner”, “I want to be fitter”.
We’ve already discussed goals - how to set them etc in a previous post 👀
So how do you achieve your goals? CONSISTENT HARD WORK. Unfortunately there is no quick fix (despite what those weight loss teas make you think 🤨), there is no magic pill that will help you achieve and maintain your goal.
How do you stay consistent?
Train regularly - get your sessions planned in for the week. If you’ve planned and booked your sessions you’re less likely to sack it off
Eat well - planning your meals for the week will make you less likely to end up hangry and making bad food choices
Stay hydrated - 💧
Take rest days - listen to your body. This will help prevent injuries which will hamper your consistent training
Respect the process - depending on what your goal is... it can take time to see results. Don’t give up!
