“Lateral control” (Roll) is effected by differential displacement of the horizontal stabilizers and augmented by wings spoilers at the wing sweep position of less than 57°. The Spoilers are interlocked in the flush down position at wing sweeps greater than 57° ( mechanical down locks or installed at 62°) and the “Roll Control” is provided entirely by differential stabilizer. Lateral stick commands are transmitted by pushrods and bell cranks to independent stabilizer power actuators and electrically to spoiler actuators. “Lateral trim” is by differential deflection of the horizontal stabilizers. (The wing spoilers are not actuated for lateral trim control). Trim is provided by adjusting the neutral position of the spring roller cam feel assembly with an electro mechanical screwjack. The trim switch produces corresponding stick movement and left or right wing down trim. (The normal stick trim switch is in-operative when the auto pilot is engaged) To limit the torsional fuselage loads, variable lateral control authority stops are installed. The “lateral stick stops” vary according to dynamic pressure air-loads from Full Stick Authority. Failure of the “lateral Stick stops” is indicated by the “HZ Tail Auth” Caution light. (Failures can be Reset by pressing the Master Caution Reset button) Failure of the stops in the one Half Position does limit rolling performance, Failure in the open condition with SAS on, requires the pilot to manually limit stick the deflection at higher speeds to avoid exceeding fuselage torsional load limits, as Lateral Stops do not limit SAS Authority. For “lateral feel” is an artificial feel System which provides the pilot with force cues and feedback. The mechanism is a spring roller cam assembly with a neutral stick position detent and a constant stick deflection force. #grumman#f14#f14tomcat#aviation#flynavy#instaviation#navy#tailhook#usnavy#iriaf#photo#history#iiaf#longisland#legend#pilot#plane#instagram#airplane#military#history#legend#photography#office#hardwork#militaryaviation#mechanic#engineer#factory

Sunset smiles with the happiest girl ⚓️ I feel so blessed to have experienced this place together and watch as she soaked in all the beauty of the east coast for the very first time. The water was ice cold so we couldn’t swim ourselves, but that didn’t stop her! She jumped right in those salty waves and looked out onto the horizon with so much contentment. We made memories together that will last a lifetime and for that I’m truly thankful #montauk#longislandny#newyork#eastcoastlife#hamptons

The John Sargeant Cram Estate at Old Westbury, Long Island, NY was built circa 1900. The North Shore of Long Island once had the highest concentration of vast estates and mansions. When one mentioned places like Old Westbury, Oyster Bay, Locust Valley, Glen Cove, it was like mentioning Southampton, East Hampton, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton and Watermill which the world knows to be the places of wealth, luxury and glamour today and the names of those North Shore towns are hardly recognized except by a few now. After the Great Depression of the 1930’s WWII, the age of living on hundreds of acres with 50-100 room mansions was considered a burden both financially and difficult to staff. Many of these once beautiful homes fell into neglect and ruin. Often ravaged and torn to bits by vandals, demolition was the only option and the valuable land subdivided for new modern upscale ranch and neo-colonial homes on one acre lots. The Cram mansion did survive on a reduced lot for many years until destroyed by fire in the 1980’s. Please scroll left to see what was left. The house is now gone and the site occupied by a new modernist house. #mgalongislandsgoldcoast#mansionsofthegildedage#gildedage#gildedagemansion#oldhouses#mansion#mansions#longisland#oldlongisland#historichomes#historiclongisland
