[To be the first]

Be still my heart. Take it all in. Jack shared with me the other night as I was tucking him in, that he had this gut feeling. This turning of his heart and insides. I shared with him how God often knocks, especially when we have given our heart to Him, and we haven’t spent time with Him. He knocks... until we answer. He loves us THAT much. I encouraged him to put God first. To wake up and spend time with Him. So, this morning as I was having my quiet time, he came out, with a Bible, and spent time with the Lord, and we spent time praying together. God is good. And, this precious boy’s heart lives to please the Lord, and know Him. I’m so grateful for these moments. It’s never too late. And, I rejoice for every single second, for however long I’m given. .
Let me introduce you to the girls. Meet Red, Blonde and Splash claw. All named by our kiddos. These ladies came to live with us about 3 years ago when our friends moved out of town. I had idea how social chickens were when we got them. Tonight I’m sitting outside enjoying a little quiet time before everyone gets home and the girls came as they usually do and hang out. Hope you are all having a nice evening. #chickens#quietplace#quiettime#silenceisgolden#quiettimeformama
what is eternal and stands forever is God’s Word, and not the things of this world. that is why my hope and my joy isn’t necessarily found within my career. it isn’t found anywhere else but in the Word because I know that there’s so much hope. We’re insufficient. We cannot even create a blade of grass with our words. But God- has created everything by His word - the heavens and the earth - and it stands in its place as God has made it - all made to serve Him :) I trust not in the thoughts of men but I put my trust in the eternal truth, the eternal gospel.
Ps 119:9-11 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let m stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Sometimes you just need to sit in a quiet place and be still. There are so many distractions that pull at us and it’s so hard to fight for quiet time... even if it’s 5 minutes.🌸
This is a little encouragement to find that quiet place ( even if it is in your closet 🤣) and take quiet time to shut off all the noise, dream, pray and breathe.

Everyone needs some solitude, some quiet time, ESPECIALLY us parents🙌🏽 #momlife#dadlife From the moment our keiki get up, which is 95% of the time before the sun, the rooster and the rest of the world is up😑 it is non-stop madness. Get up, get everyone dressed, make breakfast, kiss everyone off to school or work, clean up the morning mess, do the mountain of laundry that you've been ignoring, fix the beds, clean the bathroom...and God forbid if you have a kid at home with you while trying to #doallthethings 😳😱😭🙄
IDK bout ya'll but I get hit by Typhoon Tamatoa ⛈🌪🌩 every 15 minutes. No lie, his words, "I hate clean. Clean is boring."🤦🏽♀️ So what I get is the opposite. Instead of the sparkling clean home I'd Iike to have for longer than 30 seconds, reality looks more like every type of dinosaur🦕🦖 you can imagine (because we have them all x 2)and every snack imaginable coming out of my ears, cabinets, couch cushions, shoes, toy boxes...you get it, they're EVERYWHERE. Its nutz but its everything in the world to me❤ #wemomsarecrazylikethat
But despite the constant chaos of life...solitude should be a priority. Some quiet time to #unplug#renew#refresh and maybe even connect and check in with God for some one on one time. I didn't realize how much I love the quiet. The stillness. The solace in #pressingpause on the chaos. Because when we don't we usually wanna lock ourselves in the bathroom just so we can have a minute to chill (even with a 4 year old on the other side of the door banging away because now all of a sudden he has to pee😑🤦🏽♀️). Kids 🙄🤦🏽♀️
So, it's no surprise that my favorite place in our home has to be this lil #nook in our bathroom. It also happens to be my husband's too. A lil place to reset. Where's your favorite place in your home to get some #solitude and #quiettime ? COMMENT BELOW👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
And if you're like "Pohai, what is this quiet time you speak of. Girlllll I wish!! I haven't had quiet time since '99!!" Well let's schedule it in and make it a priority because YOU ARE A PRIORITY and worth it!! Put the scroll on hold and go take some now #selfcare#selflove#timeout#youmatter#takeabreather#parentingbelike
Yada, yada, yada...
No, I'm not talking excessively or trying to bore you. And this post isn't about Seinfeld season 8. Nope.
Yada is the Hebrew word for "know". Not just "know" but more like know intimately and personally. There's level of trust that comes with this kind of knowing...confidence in your most trusted confidant. This type of knowing is purely honest, free and uninhibited.
Who do you know that you know like this?? God wants that level of intimacy with you. And when the world is falling apart around you, "Be still and KNOW that I am God." Psalm 46
💛💙 The One Anothers Day 4: Be Kind💛💙 We are only on day 4 and I’m starting to see a recurring theme. Each day I see the example of God’s love that has been granted to each of us even though we don’t deserve it. We have a hard time sharing that same love with others sometimes because we feel like they just don’t deserve for us to be kind. Well, it’s not our job to decide that. We are just to be kind. It’s that simple. We must share with others what has been given to us. 💛💙 Anyone else’s toes getting stepped on or just me?!

Eyelashes that go on forever.
Making a lasagna tonight and a meatloaf for this lil loaf. Chuck and Ashley have walked to walmart so i have a quiet house right now. Even the neighbors haven't slammed a door in hours. #quiettime
Do not be afraid! 🌸
Do you know how many times the Bible says “Do not be afraid?” 365 times! One for every day of the year! So remember that verse of the day today is Do not be afraid 🌸
The Lord is with you!
Genesis 31 - In this chapter we see Jacob’s father in law, Laban, back up to his old deceptive tricks again.
Years ago (I’m pretty sure it was on an Oprah show) I heard the following advice - when people tell you who they are, listen to them. I was young and I just didn’t get it. People would tell me who they were, either through words or actions, and rather than listen to them, I would focus on who I wanted them to be. It has taken me decades to learn this lesson, but I finally get it.
Laban told Jacob who he was early on when he deceived him on his wedding night. In the end, Jacob gave Laban 20 years of labor but Laban was never happy and he was never going to willingly give Jacob what he deserved.
When people in your life tell you and show you who they are, listen to them! My prayer for us today is that God will give us the discernment and the strength to let go of any unhealthy relationships. #genesis31

Pretty Bibles on their way to new homes this morning. 😊
Genesis 21 - Isaac, Ishmael and Abimelech
I love what Sarah says after Isaac is born - “God has made laughter for me.” How sweet is that? And Abraham named the baby Isaac, which means “he laughs.” This is such a picture of joyful new parents! (Even if they are 100 and 90 years old…)
But then we come to Hagar and Ishmael. Sarah wants them out. She doesn’t want Isaac to have to share his inheritance with Ishmael and although Abraham doesn’t like it, God agrees with Sarah. It’s hard for me to accept that God sanctioned the banishment of Hagar and Ishmael. And even though we are reassured that God was with Ishmael as he grew up and that He promised to make him a great nation, it still seems cruel to banish a child from his home.
So here’s my take away - when we try to force God’s hand, there are consequences. Sadly, this is the story of the consequences of Sarah and Abraham taking matters into their own hands when they felt God wasn’t acting soon enough. They wanted the promised baby, it wasn’t happening, so they took care of it themselves. (I do this all the time!) The worst part is that the consequences fell not on them, but on two innocent people.
My prayer is that God will give us patience in the waiting. Waiting is sooooo hard and Abraham and Sarah had to wait a really long time. Lord, I pray that when the wait is long, you will reach out and reassure us. That you will give us the strength to wait on your perfect timing. #waitingishard#lordgivemepatience#genesis21 ❤️🙏🏻❤️

Genesis 29 - Sister Wives Edition 🙄
In this chapter we see more deception and heart break. It’s hard to believe no one has made the stories in Genesis into a mini series yet.
Today we see Jacob meet his mom’s brother, Laban, and his 2 daughters. Remember how Jacob talked Esau out of his birthright and then deceived his father into giving him Esau’s blessing as well? Well, payback’s a …
Jacob falls head over heals in love with Rachel and offers to work 7 years for Laban for the honor of marrying her. But Laban isn’t going to let Jacob (free labor) get away so quickly. On what is supposed to be Jacob and Rochel’s wedding night, Laban brings Leah to Jacob instead. (Do you ever wonder where Rachel was? Did Laban gag her and hide her somewhere???) In the morning Jacob is furious, but by then it’s too late. The deed is done. Laban says, “So sorry, but around here we don’t marry off the younger daughters before the older. Go ahead and finish the wedding week with Leah and then I will give you Rachel, too. As long as you will work for me another 7 years.” Father of the year, for sure. .
Now Jacob has 2 wives. Rachel, who he loves, and Leah, who he doesn’t. But Leah is clearly in love with him and to complicate matters even further, Rachel can’t get pregnant, but God gives Leah 4 sons fairly quickly. With each birth, Leah hopes and prays that giving Jacob sons will cause him to love her.
One last point - there is such a contrast between how Abraham and Eliezer chose Rebekah for Isaac and how Jacob chooses his wife. The first was covered in prayer from start to finish. The second doesn’t mention praying for guidance once. No marriage is perfect and all marriages are hard work, but what a reminder this is to pray over and seek God’s guidance in all of our decisions. Lord, help us to seek you and obey in all that we do. #genesis29#rachelandleah

Genesis 30 -
More sister wives drama! One of the things that kills me about this story is that at this point Jacob was in his 80s. And he was sleeping with FOUR women! Seriously?
Many of you have asked me how I decide what to journal and I am working on getting my blog up and going so that I can give you more detailed descriptions. But, for now, I will just say that the format I use is VERY flexible. It’s very go with the flow. Some days I list the events of the passage, other days I focus on themes, and others (like today) I focus on individuals. Rachel, Leah and Jacob are such a hot mess right now and I wanted to look at each of their actions individually.
2 things jump out at me today. 1st, competition, envy, comparison and favoritism within a family are never healthy. (And of course, it goes without saying that marrying sisters isn’t healthy, either!) These things inevitably lead to conflict and they rarely resolve on their own. So we have to deal with them and work to resolve them. 2nd, Jacob is ridiculously passive! He seems to just go along with whatever his wives suggest . “Sleep with me!” “Sleep with my maid!” “I bought you by selling mandrakes to Rachel so you have to sleep with me tonight!” And he just goes along with it all. Craziness.
My prayer for us today is that if we have any of these issues (envy, comparison, favoritism) in our own lives you will help us to recognize them and deal with them. Help us to love each other well.
