Do you shoot with Natural Light or Artificial Light?
Recently, I have been experimenting with different lighting techniques and I got the opportunity to work with the awesome @lifeofkiera.
Kiera is a local model/actress who is the utmost professional and a blast to photograph. Shooting indoors without high speed strobes caused a bit of a problem for us with creating a shallow depth of field while keeping things sharp.
Having thought about what could give a slight pop of light from my @godox_photo_equipment SK300, I thought “What if I shoot the light against my @savageuniversal black backdrop?”. Doing that reduced the amount of light that hit Kiera but still allowed enough light to expose her properly.
Obviously, having some HSS flashes would have made this much easier but, it goes to show it’s not always about gear but about what you do with it!
A little throwback Thursday to a recent shoot with the awesome Dominic (@count3d) who works in the ever booming Vancouver Film Industry. His brother had bought him a photoshoot as a gift and we had a great time working on his headshots and also some lifestyle images. One of my favourite parts as a headshot and portrait photographer is getting to know my clients and hear their experiences. Dominic who has worked with some famous faces including @chrishemsworth and @thejeffbridges to name just a few had some great industry stories and was a pleasure to work with!
So lucky to share a space with @india_wanebo again. Always compelled by the way she uses movement as a form of expression.
Although I was behind the lens, each shot was charged with energy, as if I caught her in the middle of a scene.
