Today we celebrated our engagement anniversary. Two years ago today we got engaged in Havana, Cuba. It was one of the most adventures we’ve ever had. And...the rest is history. Here’s to celebrating with mojitos, daiquiris, and flan(if available ☺️).

ADVENTURE | The etymology of the word has always interested me: traced back to the root word “advent,” it means the arrival of a person, thing, or event (most notably Christ’s nativity and second coming on the Christian calendar).
Its meaning to me more personally has always pointed to the rediscovery of the self through other forms of “arriving.”
After all. How can you know what home is without ever leaving it?
What wilder woods are calling to you now? Say yes to them. The road is yours. •

🌱: 𝘏𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘢, aka Needle-and-Thread, a Utah perennial bunchgrass that’s been the lovely bane of my off-trail excursions. While they’re beautiful waving in light breezes, these plants produce terrible spikes that get in your shoes and f*cking HURT. Ankle gaiters have been my best defense 😜 #ipreview via @preview.app
This is 34.💃🏽
I’m so grateful I am here. I made it. If you asked 21 year old me if I would have done all that I have done and seen all that I have seen, she would have said no. I’m enormously blessed with a relationship with God and a life that is full and keeps filling up. The best is yet to come. God is doing a new thing, as He always is, and I’m rockin’ with it. Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I really appreciate it so much! Most of all, I love my husband and I want to thank him for surprising me and doing the most for my birthday. If I can be candid 😬, I wasn’t feeling it this month or this week but he knows me so well and is super thoughtful. So—Adventure! One of the best gifts I could ever get and we have so many more to come. Boo Biscuit is my Boo Biscuit 😍.

Apart from rafting down this incredible river, past the desolate and sheer beauty of this region, and camping on the river banks, this trip takes travellers to visits to monasteries and palaces and on hikes and treks through some of the more remote villages and scenic trails of Ladakh.
Last chance to get on the Zanksar train!

“Every man should pull a boat over a mountain once in his life.” A blast from the past. The iconic Makra Peak of Shogran Valley is located in south-east of Kiwai & south of Paye Meadow. From Paye it is a walking trek of 4 to 5 hours to the top of Makra mountain 3885 m.
Summer adventure diaries Chap. 1: Ride the City Bus
I have fond memories taking the city bus. It was a taste of freedom. First as a child with my grandmother and sister on our journeys down North Ave. and then as a teenager navigating life to and from school.
It’s the next best thing to walking. One in which I get to take in the vibrancy of community and journey outside of the confines of a comfortable car that keeps me secluded and in my own bubble.
Living in a very car-dominant city at times leaves me feeling disconnected and ungrounded. I’ve been walking a ton lately and it’s inspired me to experience life and my community from a different angle. One in which I remember what it felt like to be a child who effortlessly enjoys life in all of its simplicity and is in constant awe of the world around them.
I’m so blessed to have space this summer and plan to have as many adventures possible with my kiddos as we explore our city. Together we will learn from one another, create lasting memories and gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be in community. #summer2019#adventurediaries#mke#mcts #rockfriends

“On Sunday, we road tripped up to Flagstaff once again to go on an alpine hike. We had no idea what to expect. Austin has only been up on the mountain when it is covered in snow, sliding over hundreds of fallen trees under meters of white blankets. It was a sight to see. Even though we didn’t make it to the top, we made it to a clearing of lichen covered boulders with an outlook of the mountains in the distance. The rocks were like a solid river flowing down the mountain, with green spruces, ponderosas, and firs lining the banks of the stones creating a flowing optical illusion. We looked out onto the other volcanoes in the distance, at awe at how emerald the landscape looked to us. The breeze blew a chill onto us, something we’re not used to living in the hot desert. Sixty-five felt refreshing and energizing, like a wind filtering out the fatigue left in my skin. We sat and ate cherries and chatted at the sight. It only took two miles to get here…”

I value the art of storytelling so much that I’ve dedicated much of my life to it. Telling my story helps me get my message out into the world as well as meeting others who share similarities. Sometimes hearing that someone else feels the same way you do or has a similar experience makes you feel less alone. Then there’s the other side of storytelling that inspires. And that’s what I hope to do through my platforms.
If you got to the bottom of this post, leave me your favorite emoji to say hi!

Candolim beach, Goa, India.
Circa 2014. Had finished factory trials earlier than expected and decided to give this a try with my colleagues and a friend from Ukraine.
Candolim lies 15 kilometres from Panjim, the Goan capital, in northern Goa. Beginning at Fort Aguada and merging with Calangute Beach towards the end, it is one of the longest beaches in the state. The beach is very calm, and remarkably clean. The main Candolim-Calangute Road is packed with shops and restaurants, but the beach front is free of any commercial activity apart from some water activities. The picture here is from one such activity.
The area around the beach can be termed as resort free as there aren't any resorts there. However, the beach has several inns.
A feature about the Candolim Beach was the ship River Princess, which had been stuck at the shores of the beach since 2000 but has since been removed.
