Today was so hot we wanted to hide in the air conditioning... instead we made a quick trip across state line to Kentucky to visit Mammoth Cave 🦇 it was a comfy 55 degrees - Did you know it’s the longest cave system known in the world??? 😳 they’ve never found an end and it’s been connected to many other cave systems through constant exploration. 414 miles of cave passageways has been mapped with more yet to find. 41 of these miles are open to tourists to tour, self guided and guided tours and even a canoe tour. Slaves were used to mine saltpeter from the sediment in the cave during the war of 1812. The saltpeter was used to create gunpowder to use during that war even by George Washington himself. It’s the #2 attraction in the United States, just begging Niagara Falls. There are a few buried there, some that became entrapped exploring and an undetermined number of TB patients- it was believed that the cave air could cure the TB. Mammoth cave is home to 3 endangered species as well- the Grey bat, Indiana Bat and Kentucky cave shrimp. It was beautifully impressive to see. If you’re anywhere near this place it’s a must see, stop and cool off! #mammothcave@mammothcavenps#nashvillenurse#cave#saturdayadventures#spontaneousroadtrip#daytrip#adventuresfortwo

Love a little neon wisdom... it's a journey. Love it!
Anxiety and lack of confidence... Who else struggles with this ?
Lack of confidence is always something I have struggled with from high school until now. I wish I would have had the keys back then to build my confidence but the struggle has made me who I am today. My confidence is on a rise this past year and is still something I am working on daily. Anxiety is something that I didn't know I had until a few years ago when I had an anxiety attack. They gave me some options all if which I didn't like. Meds made me want to sleep all day and that couldn't happen with my job so I stopped taking them. Thankfully years later I found the right outlet for me.
My solution-a fitness library of workouts (had also prevented me from the winter blues and hating winter to trying to be more active during the winter months ) I have a group of women that keep me accountable for my health and fitness.
If you can relate to this I am hear to listen or show you a plan to help you.
One of the toughest (actually, second after Yosemite mountain trails) hikes I’ve done here in California ⛰🗺 It’s called Three Sister Waterfalls trail, San Diego area. A bit more than 4 miles, includes some climbing and extreme slopes, almost all the way with no shades, but totally worth it!! Way down is about 40min (easy), the way back can take longer since you may take a few breaks to rest. Don’t be stupid like me and wear closed hiking shoes no matter what you think of your flats and how comfortable they seem to be!! 🤦🏼♀️👡 And make sure you saved enough water for your way back! 💧The waterfall starts with a small creek and has three falls and pools (may vary in seasons). Climbing up to the upper levels is quite challenging (in some places it’s almost 90 degrees, but there’s a rope to hold on to), but surprisingly many people go for it💪 totally optional though - it’s beautiful down there by the lower pool, but I bet once you get there you’d want to check out the view from the top 😉 Some crazy adventurous people jump down into lagoon, which is somewhat like Russian roulette to me 😵 There is plenty of room to take some rest by the pools and indulge a great view, also there are places to explore wilderness by the creek up there - we saw snakes, salamanders, people (just a few, there’re very rare up there 😄) so for those who look for a quite spot to get lost in nature - totally possible. Ultimately, you get a long scenic hike, nice tan (or a sunburn if you don’t use a sunscreen like me 👹) and a great workout all in one 👟🍃
And yes, people, it’s summertime, so allow yourselves some time to explore nature around, but be mindful about it 🌱
