1988 BMW E28 M5 "An object of desire" BMW words are spot on! This 3.5L M88/3 Inline 6 engine which is an updated version of the same engine in the M1 Supercar pushed out 315hp. Making it the fastest production sedan in the world at launch back in 1984. This engine along with a 5-speed manual gearbox rocketed the car up to 251kph and a 0-60 time of only 6 seconds. I agree that this version of the M5 is truely beautiful!
I learned along time ago that zip ties don’t work worth squat on an electric fan mounted to a radiator. It’s a great way to lose a fan and do some nasty damage to the radiator, frame, and other components surrounding the fan installation when it lets go. As a result, I started mounting my fans with a nice easy to build solid mount system that also mounts the overflow tank. I use 1/8th or 3/16ths by 1 inch flat bar. Start with the long side bar attaching to the upper and lower grill shell mounts provided with the radiator . The second holes are for mounting the grill shell and these are drilled and tapped into the side bar. Center the fan and then build a bracket from the side bar to any of the fan mounts. I then mark the first arm of the bracket, remove, weld, and reinstall. Then cut and mark the second arm - I always start from the top ( right and left ) and then go to the lower arms. Each time I mark, remove, weld, and reinstall. This keeps everything in alignment and I don’t have any surprises. The key here is patience. Patience = accuracy. #streetrod_101
