Shock absorbers are a commonly overlooked car part, but their importance shouldn't be understated. Shocks keep your ride smooth and make handling your car easier. Unfortunately, shocks can also fail. Worn shocks can lead to poor handling, cause damage to other parts of your car, and even put your safety at risk. Here are the signs of faulty shock absorbers:
1. Rough Ride
2. Increased Stopping Time
3. Uneven Tire Wear
4. Poor Control
The symptoms of worn or faulty shock absorbers are easy to miss because they resemble other common vehicle problems. Pulling Curves! This Lexus got smacked in the right rear corner. It flatten out the curve of the quarter panel so I had to weld a tab on the edge to pull the curve back so it meets up correctly with the bumper cover. Stay tuned for a How It’s Done 101 episode coming tonight in how I made a template to make sure I got the correct curve and how I went about pulling it out.
It’s might seam crazy but it’s often when you have a small whoop dee doo in you body filler it is often much easier to re-coat the entire area with a skim coat of glaze rather then try and just add some to the bas spot. Reason being is if you just coat the spot in the middle of the filler work, you will often under cut the area around where you spotted in the filler. Not saying it’s impossible. I do it from time to time but it’s often just faster to coat the entire area again. Be sure to watch the full episode on this repair just posted on my fb page @ BlueCollarKyle
