I would never usually skip a Monday but my babe is unwell and can't go to kindy or gym daycare . I could do a home workout but definitely prefer the gym . I'll make this an active rest day and push hard from tomorrow instead ! I'm sticking to my daily cals and hoping for a walk later on (if my babe is up to it) otherwise I can always jump on the bike inside. 😁
Happy end of summer! Enjoying my hammock in the shade next to my #shastacamper#thankful to have my lil trailer in my own backyard! It is so cozy and #myownzone . This little time capsule was shelter for my whole family when we moved from Washington to Texas. Then it was my two daughters bedroom when we transitioned to living in Texas half the year . When I moved to California we kept this trailer as a living space at an 18 day festival. We worked there selling my natural body care products. I also sold my cds of original music and my girls helped me do airbrush and henna tattoos. We would make enough money and travel back across country to live and work at summer camp. Eventually I put down roots in California and at the end of the music festival many years ago , I got into my old 1970 chevy pick up truck and hooked up my little Shasta trailer. I drove across Texas through the Southwest, and up to Northern California for the first time with out my daughters as copilots. It was not an easy journey in an old slow truck without AC across Death Valley in June. My old reliable truck got me home safely. I am so grateful for our little time capsule. Now it is a guest space and an awesome back up plan if we need shelter. I ❤️my Shasta! #lifeisgood#kerrvillefolkfestival#campwinnarainbow#happycamper#gratitude#backupplan#shelter#backtoschool#summer

You’ll never regret having a back up plan.👌 Learn about Tile Premium at the link in our bio!
I am a firm believer in always bringing a knife to a gun fight. I’ve found that no one ever complained about having too many options to ensure they make it home in a bad situation. I usually alternate between these two depending on the day and where I’m going. What do you guys carry for a self defense blade?
😴 🏃🏻♀️ 🛌 Rest Day: You need it! (But only if you’ve been working out this week)😴🏃🏻♀️🛌 If you flash back in time and ask me about #restdays , it’s likely I’d respond with something along the lines of, “Why? Those are for whimps.” 🤷🏻♀️ But today? Not so much! ❌
As long as you are, in fact, working out and pushing yourself each week, I dare say that rest days 💤 are a MUST.
Another bonus about building in a regular weekly day of chilling? You automatically have a #backupplan day if (as it often does) life gets in the way 🏃🏻♀️ or your schedule gets nutty unexpectedly.
Miss your workout Tuesday because of that meeting/event/last minute thing/the kids? NBD! 😎 You merely cashed in your rest day early.
Just make sure you repay your “owed bank” 🏦 (ie mileage workouts or training) on your usual rest day on those occasions where you do swap!
Some of my favorite ways to unplug and recover on Sundays -my usual rest day!- include: - not doing any kind of productive activity 🙅🏻♀️
- reading magazines like @womenshealthmag@usweekly@shape - continuing my @davidduchovny novel #buckyfuckingdent 📔
- updating or writing blogs for my website 👩🏻💻
- #netflixandchill with the BC fam! 🐕 🐶 🐱 💑 ( #actionmovie Sundays are a thing here!) Which day of the week do you dedicate to rest? And have you always been a fan of rest days?

Because beans on toast always takes adjustment... #backupplan
It's 1am, I got home from shooting this wedding (showered, because it was so humid and sweaty!), and though it's totally not the "IG optimal time to post," I am waiting for the photos to upload. So this brings us to a tech talk about backing up photos.
Backups! What is my backup plan for one of the most significant days of a couple's life together?
1. Use my camera's dual memory card slots in "mirror" mode. Instead of filling up one card and then going to the next, I have photos going in duplicate onto both cards at the same time, just in case of hardware malfunction. Then I keep one set untouched and the other set I upload to my computer.
2. When I upload raw photos, I upload them via Lightroom onto my external hard drive, and simultaneously load a copy into my temporary working file backup in Microsoft OneDrive cloud system.
3. I regularly backup my Lightroom catalogue so that even if I lose the photos in one drive, I can sync the Lightroom edits with the saved backups I have.
4. Keep all files in triplicate until I deliver the final product. Upload final edited high resolution set onto my permanent cloud storage for records. Then I format the memory cards for reuse!
5. One last thing...I shoot with multiple camera bodies since I mostly use prime lenses. In each composition, I will take both wide angled and close up shots. If one camera system--and all the photos held within--goes kaput from some act of weather or gods or whatever, the entire day will still be represented photographically from the other perspectives. And there you have it! .
Life can be cruel and things happen that we can't always control. Sometimes we get thrown into the frying pan. We. Need. A. Back. Up. Plan.
Having an emergency fund has taken so much stress and worry out of our lives. It wasn't easy but we put 3 months in there. Eventually, we would like 6 months saved.
I speak to my family and friends who don't have this safety net, some of their reasons surprise me. My sister is in a hard financial place and I'm trying to help her create a safety net in case the worst happens. But it's been harder than I anticipated to teach her how/why.
When you think self care, what comes to mind? 🍎 Eating better?
🧖♀️ Spa trips?
💪 Getting active?
All are great answers, but self care is so much more. To me, it is the inside & outside that count. Eat healthier & in moderation depending on your goals. Stay hydrated with water first! Water has so many benefits for digestion, your skin, etc. Pampering or "me time" is a great way to unplug & refocus on your own mental well being. What about the self care of your future self? What about fulfilling your dreams and your family's dreams. What if you could pay for college and not worry about student loans? What about getting that dream home or retiring when you want? Something I have realized in the last few months is that life is short. I actually heard or read somewhere that after eating, sleeping, driving, working, etc... after it's all added up over our lifetime, we are left with 7 years on average of time for ourselves. Our self care for our future selves has been lost. .
What if you could start working on getting more than 7 years? What if you took a look at an opportunity to add a little extra each month & potentially replace your income? Would it be worth it? Maybe, the only way you'll know is to learn more. .
I'd love to tell you how I finally learned to be me & retire at 40.
Kemaren ke Pasar saya terkejut , cabe rawit mencapai 140rb/kg , hhhhhhhhhhuh!! untung saya punya back up di rumah , walaupun lahan terbatas saya masih bisa nanam cabai , bbrp sayuran dan bumbu dapur , jadi gak terlalu puasa amat kalau harga2 melonjak tinggi
Kalau kata Warren Buffett pakar keuangan , JANGAN BERGANTUNG DENGAN TUKANG CABE DI PASAR, TANAM SENDIRI AJAH! 😂😂😝😝
Cabai mahal masih mending , bisa puasa sementara gak makan cabai coba kalau perusahaan tempat kamu bekerja bangkrut trus PHK massal trus kamu gak punya BACK UP , anak2 makan apa , sekolahnya bayar pakai apa ???? Atau kemungkinan paling buruk kamu meninggal dunia lantas anak2 mana mungkin disuruh puasa gak makan selama2nya 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Growth can be scary. Growth can be intimidating. Growth can cause that "oh shit, should I say no to the next client or customer?"
😒 I TOTALLY get it. I pooed myself (thankfully, not literally) when I realised I needed to get a team behind me to help me service my clients.
😭 I had no idea how the hell I was going to afford to pay those extra people.
🙄 It was a bit hit and miss for a few weeks. But then the money starting rolling in and I could pay the three people I'd taken on to help me. And then I needed to ask them to help me more. And more..
🙉 And then I was paying them more than I was paying myself every month and I realised THIS WAS GROWTH.
✔️ THIS WAS WHAT I NEEDED TO BUILD MY BUSINESS. This was exactly what building a business looks like. 🤑 But growth is so much more than making money. Growth is about achievement, it's about being proud of what you've achieved and you DESERVE THAT.
So if you're faltering, why not ask for support. Don't grind yourself into the ground. Ask for backup and never, ever say NO to clients (unless it's not your ideal client, then you have permission). Take the opportunity in both hands and give it a big slobbery kiss.
Because this is how you build a business and it takes ups and downs, but YOU WILL GET THERE.
☔️It’s like rain on your wedding day ☔️
Wedding days are unpredictable. You want to plan it to be perfect, but let’s be real for a sec...things will ALWAYS go wrong, and your enjoyment of your wedding day is entirely dependent on your attitude. So plan, cross your fingers, but regardless of what happens, keep a positive attitude and remember that it’s really about day one of your marriage, not perfection.
One of the things you should plan for is weather. You always want to have a rain plan in the event of inclement weather. In STL, there aren’t a lot of indoor spaces that you can take portraits in, and the ones where you can often require permission well in advance and/or a fee. It’s not something you should wait until you can see the 10 day forecast to plan!
If it were me, I would look for a venue that has beautiful indoor spaces: Stifel Theater, Silver Oaks Chateu, The Caramel Room, The Marriott Grand, and The Chase Park Plaza are some of my favorites with gorgeous indoor spaces. They may be a little pricier, but they provide a guaranteed backup plan for a day that you can’t recreate.
An alternate option that I’ve done before is to plan a portrait session for your wedding portraits of the two of you on a different day. This allows you to get your wedding party and family photos done the day of, but then you can spend the rest of the day with your guests (and whatever the weather does...you don’t have to worry about it). Then we can pick a separate day, go out at golden hour, at a location that you love!
So if you’re still in the planning stage, make sure you have a ⛈ plan. DM me if you need ideas!

Going to be testing out this guy for a little while. It is a @ravencresttactical RCT-1 OTF. This is the first OTF I have had the pleasure of owning. Being the adult fidget toy that it is I am probably getting nothing done today.

It only took a month!
4 weeks ago, this beast arrived - needing to reorganise my office for about the 10th time since I set it up, I've kept it under wraps until everything was free from dust and I had the perfect space for it. Annoyingly, the delay in opening it meant I've only just realised I've been supplied with a European power cord 😂 🙄.
The photo doesn't quite do it's size justice but it's my second A3 printer and it's rather large. With my first one getting tired at times (summer is busy!), I suddenly realised printers may become a regular business expense 😂.
This time we're going pigment-based ink which should mean sharper print and longer lasting colour. I'll update you once all trials have been done. Today, I'm digesting the user manual 😴.
I fondly remember getting my first though and can't bear the thought of letting it go so they each now have their own desk, which also means I have a back up plan if one goes bang!
Statistics proving why you should buy life insurance....
How Life Insurance Works
There are three major components of a life insurance policy.
Death benefit is the amount of money the insurance company guarantees to the beneficiaries identified in the policy upon the death of the insured. The insured will choose their desired death benefit amount based on estimated future needs of surviving heirs. The insurance company will determine whether there is an insurable interest and if the insured qualifies for the coverage based on the company's underwriting requirements.
Cash value of Permanent or Endowment insurance is a component which serves as a living benefit. It is a savings account, which can be used by the policy owner, during the life of the insured, with cash accumulated on a tax-deferred basis.
Life Insurance Riders
Many insurance companies offer policyholders the option to customize their policies to accommodate their personal needs. Riders are the most common way a policyholder may modify their plan. There are many riders, but availability depends on the provider.
The accidental death and dismemberment benefit rider provides additional life insurance coverage in the event the insured's death is accidental. The dismemberment part pays a lump sum if you lose an eye, limb, etc.
The waiver of premium rider ensures the waiving of premiums if the policyholder becomes disabled and unable to work.
The disability income rider pays a monthly income in the event the policyholder becomes disabled.

3. One extra entry if your comment includes tagging a friend with a canine adventure partner (Only one comment/tag will count)
4. BONUS: three extra entries if you ALSO post a photo of your adventurous pup and include #adventuresafelygiveaway in the caption. I sincerely want to get the word out about the emergency harness. I've spent many hours pondering rescue methods and I know y'all have done the same. Having this in my first aid kit gives me peace of mind and I'm stoked to be able to share one with a fellow dog owner (just don't forget to practice, like with any emergency equipment!) #
The winner will be drawn at random and announced on Monday, August 26th - National Dog Day!
This is one of the secondary defensive items we keep in the mobile tactical family deployment platform. #notaminivan
Somehow all this crap and debris got in the sheath and on the blade. Kids are such filthy animals. I love them, really got to teach them about equipment maintenance though. LOL
Taco Tuesday! While the rest of the crew are enjoying their tacos on low carb wraps, I wanted a salad tonight. Unfortunately, the greens I bought 3 days ago were too wilted for me so I opted for this delicious bowl! Turkey taco meat with cheese and avocado, cucumbers, jicama and tomato sprinkled with fresh lime and @traderjoes Chile Lime Seasoning Blend! Hit the taco night spot perfectly!! #lowcarbfamily#healthyfamilyeating#sortaketo#backupplan#freshisbest
Alcohol swabs for nausea: now this is some aromatherapy I can believe in. An old nursing trick for nausea now validated by RCT. --
A recent RCT published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine found sniffing alcohol swabs alleviates nausea BETTER than PO ondansetron (zofran) and was associated with higher patient satisfaction. Results were the same regardless of disposition and time to discharge.
Try giving your patients a stack of alcohol pads and instruct them to use as needed for nausea control.
This was a trick my preceptor taught me as a new nurse. Apparently it's well studied in post-op patients, but it's cool to see it validated in an emergency department setting as well!
