The very FIRST time I saw the snow leopard was when it hunted down a blue sheep. Something on which people spend years, hoping they will see the hunt.
And I was there, the whole time, watching it eat the kill for two days straight, and I knew I couldn't be luckier!
The average success rate of the hunt is really really low. Only 1/10 times the snow leopard succeeds, and the older it gets, the tougher the life becomes.
For me, when I decided to finally spot one, I had nothing specific in mind, I just wanted a glimpse of it.
So for the next seven days, I got up at 6am and trekked up in crazy snow and freezing temperatures with the scanners, and what followed next was just 7-8 hours of wait filled with hope.
And that for me is my most favourite part, not spotting one, not capturing one, but sitting like rocks, behind rocks, and scanning the mountains to spot one, while knowing how high the chances are that the snow leopard has already spotted you, and with it's perfect camouflage, probably sitting right infront of you while you still can't see it.
Just thinking about it makes me want to rush back to Spiti and sit above 15,000ft in extreme temperatures while scanning those beautiful gorges! . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Excited to spend a week in the BWCA! The weather looks great this week and everything looks perfect. 🛶
Hoping to see a moose for the first time and catch some fish. Maybe will see a bear, would be pretty neat.
Anyway...no electronics or clock this week. Excited to unplug.

This land, this water, this air, this planet - is this the legacy to our young?
Is this how we want to bring our children in?

The jaw-dropping views of other solemn neighboring peaks like Jichu Drakey [6,662m] and Tsherim Gang are peerless from the rolling alpine meadow near Tshophu Lake. If you’ve a license you could even choose to go brown trout fishing at the high altitude lake, Tshophu.
The Jomolhar Trek is a moderate to hard difficult with a maximum altitude being 4,750m/15,580ft, which means trekkers, will fairly face a high level of physical challenge. To complete and fully enjoy the trek, a good level of fitness and stamina is required. The trek takes you through some of the most stunning landscape and it is best undertaken during April to June and September to November. For scenic and clear view of the mountain peaks and the surrounding landscape mid-November to early December are the best.

Casino Peak is one of the new tourist destinations in Cebu, attracting locals and foreign travellers alike. It is located in Sitio Lugsangan in Barangay Tabon, Dalaguete, Cebu. Going there is almost the same as going to Osmena Peak in Barangay Mantalongon. The green hills are reminiscent of Chocolate Hills in Bohol. 🌴🌴🌴
