Went for a run, punched a heavy bag, and it is back to work in the studio. Today I'm focused on the future. I want you to realize you can ALWAYS be vulnerable in front of the camera. The days you are resistant to being seen are the days you need to see yourself the most. #intimateportraitsession
Let’s talk about periods! I know, I know... talking about periods again?? You better believe it! I will never stop trying to normalize, advocate, and raise awareness around periods, endometriosis, and PCOS! So, here we go!
Earlier this week I did a poll on my stories asking if you felt shame around your period and 29% of the women who voted said yes! Which, by the way, is totally understandable. Most of us are raised to be ladies and “ladies don’t talk about their time of the month.” But what a difference it would make if we weren’t shamed, made to feel embarrassed, or made fun of when we were younger. Maybe then we could have actually figured out that pain is not normal, birth control pills are not the right answer for pain, and talked about what we each experience to better understand our bodies and what is going on every month. •.
I am here to tell you that it is okay to not feel shame or embarrassment around your period (I know for those of you who voted yes that is easier said than done). I am here to tell you to raise your voice even if you need to do it in private with your doctor. I am here to tell you that you don’t have to be on birth control pills if you don’t want to be - there are other answers that don’t have such permanent side effects. I am here to tell you that what you have to say is valid. I am here to tell you to advocate for yourself and your body and don’t let anyone else tell you what you are experiencing because no one else will ever know. You are a beautiful menstruating being and can feel proud that you are strong enough to do it every single month!

The Sky is The Limit Thursday!
Often times we get so preoccupied with everything going on in our lives that we forget to take care of our physical wellbeing. This doesn’t necessarily just mean exercise (although it can). It can be anything from taking a nap to giving your body more rest, eating a well balanced meal, taking a walk, drinking water, practicing your breathing. It can be anything no matter how big or small, just remember to do one thing for your physical well being daily. Take care of all of you!
What do you like to do for your physical well being?

Communication; something that sounds simple yet sometimes one of the trickiest things to do. Tricky for so many reasons including thoughts such as 'they won't listen', 'no-one cares', 'I'm not loud enough', 'they've made up their mind', 'what are my family going to say' and 'people are going to talk about me'. I could go on.
Arguably, the Punjabi Sikh Community aren't the greatest at talking to each other especially about things that matter. We tend to avoid, distract, ignore and keep plodding along in the hopes that it will just go away. It does sometimes go away for a while but in the long term it often comes back threefold. .
Communication is key in all relationships. Imagine having that conversation with your parent, sibling, employer, cousin, friend etc. about something that you've been thinking about for a while, maybe even about something that makes you feel uneasy. Remember its absolutely fine to have differences but its about having the opportunity for a shared conversation about those differences. Its so important in any relationship to be heard and having this space. . #sikhyourmind#communication#beheard#together#support#listen#voice#talking#positivestrategies#mentalhealth#network#mentalwealth
When it comes to mental wellness, there's lots of talk about, well, talking. It's true, talking it out does help you to process your thoughts and emotions, but a good listener - someone who really listens, unbiased, and allows you to speak your truth - makes all the difference. Here's to the listeners out there! Whether a therapist or simply a good friend, you are making SUCH a difference to the lives of those you know! #worldlisteningday
