I spent some time with a little group of turnstones at sunset yesterday and today. While I was lying on the ground trying to get as close as possible they never stopped flipping over pebbles in search for invertebrates, occasionally they would bump into each other but then continue as if nothing happened, all while completely ignoring my presence.

(@rainforestalliance) I’ve read and thought a bit about the recent uptick in new about the Brazilian Amazon burning. The most important thing to me that’s happening is folks are talking about it and learning about some of the issues rainforests in the tropics have been dealing with for years. @rainforestalliance has a great finger on the pulse of the issues and helping communities effected by slash and burn agriculture (one of the primary issues that creates these fires). I fear for the wildlife, the forests, and the people in these communities, I’ve seen a lot of slash and burn agriculture. If this has awoken something in you to get more involved in rainforest conservation,
I hope you take the first step and follow someone like @rainforestalliance who’s bringing awareness at all times of the year to these type of deforestation issues.

@reservaylt, I want to finish this week out on a strong note, and something for rainforest conservation, so if you could please go to @reservaylt and give a follow. My friend @calliebroaddus has started a new organization whose goal is to guide youths in creating the first youth funded reserve in the tropics. It’s of paramount importance to get the next generation involved in #rainforest Conservation, and this is such a great way. She’s going to do amazing things with this group of thoughtful and creative youth, and in an area of the world I find extremely important, the Chocó. So let’s help her get a greater following so she can get the message out to more folks, that want to participate in rainforest conservation and funding. She’s in the mid 500 follower range, I know we can get her to over a thousand today. So enjoy the beautiful Royal Flycatcher a species found in the Chocó, and give @reservaylt a follow.
