"I have dreamed in my life, dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind."
I'm a Turkish Coffee lover and we lucky enough to get our fix at the Turkish Mosque in Midrand whenever the craving hits! The Ottoman Palace restaurant serves divine Turkish Coffee and tea, offering the perfect setting and ambience for a cuppa in the afternoon!
Love at first sight ❤️
Breathtaking mosques and palaces, one of the most beautifull places we visited so far 🤩
We were invited to debate with an imam in the blue mosque to better understand the religion of islam ☪️
Later, as we were seeking for precious saffron in the bazaar, we met two lovely women who brought us to numerous places we wouldn’t have had the chance to see if we had stuck with our guides 📖
These two days, we stayed at @anar_guesthouse in a welcoming family, discovered iranian local food and traditions, they made us feel like we really were part of the family ! 🇮🇷
Sadly we only stayed two nights, but we will definitely return ! 🏎

Aside from its staggering size and exquisite beauty, one of the most distinctive elements of The Blue Mosque is that it has six minarets, as opposed to the usual two or four of most of the city’s mosques. In the history of the Blue Mosque, legend has it that this is because of a misunderstanding – when the Sultan decreed there should be altın minare (gold minarets), the architect heard altı minare (six minarets) – an easy mistake to make! This caused some controversy, as the only other mosque with six minarets at that time was the Prophet’s mosque in Mecca – a problem the sultan overcame by ordering a seventh to be added in Mecca.
If you could put all my favorite things in one place. 🙌🏼 What a sendoff, Turkey.
I can’t tell you how many people have told me over the years that Istanbul is their favorite international city. Probably more than any other destination, actually. So it’s been a dream of mine to visit and I have to say, it was leaps and bounds above all the hype. 😍
The charming neighborhood vibes, the heavenly food, the stellar rooftop scene, the glowing sea sunsets, the impressive architecture, the endless supply of cats... 😸 You were a dream Istanbul.
Leave a 🇹🇷 if Turkey is on your bucket list! #wayfaresspresets
Of all the neighborhoods I’ve explored in Istanbul, Fener and Balat definitely have the most character... and color 😍🌈.
Here you’ll find a shocking number of mosques, churches, and synagogues, representing the diverse Jewish, Armenian, and Orthodox communities that live here; washing lines strung between colorful old wooden homes; children playing in the streets — definitely a more authentic neighborhood experience that’s still a bit off the beaten tourist track.
Come to get lost in the alleys, have coffee at the quirky & hip cafes, peruse the antique shops, chat with the locals (who are either very friendly or very angry that you’re petting their cat 😹), and burn some calories because no joke — those streets are STEEP.
