It’s my birthday! I’m 8️⃣ today. Can you believe it?! 🎂 🎁 🎉
I’ve had Roux since she was eight weeks old. She was just a potato. And she is the best girl I could have asked for. Happy birthday, muffin. #birthdaygirl
Yesterday was the strangest Flashback Friday I’ve had in a while.
When he’s not eating or being a wild and crazy boy, Piglet loves to be held. He also loves our other dogs. But sometimes he needs his space. So he’s been learning to let them know, in a nice way, when he’s not in the mood for crowding. Instead of grumbling or carrying on, he has started to simply turn or move away. This is an important coping skill for a tiny deaf and blind dog to have.
Yesterday I sat down with Piggy in my arms. Everyone came over to be social. Piglet wasn’t up for it so he quietly climbed onto my shoulder. And there I was, sitting with him in the middle of a serious baby flashback.
I haven’t sat in that chair with a tiny one in this position since my kids were babies. He was completely relaxed and snuggled into my shoulder. It was a little bit strange bc I haven’t experienced this kind of snuggle connection in a very long time.
I have very close relationships with my other dogs. I certainly spend a lot of time holding and cuddling with them. But this tiny pink dog Piglet takes dog cuddling to a whole new level. When my daughter held him for the first time she laughed as she described the feeling- “I feel like I gave birth to him”. I don’t know what it is about him. But at times I really do feel that kind of connection with Piglet. So when he perched himself on my shoulder and molded himself in, it brought me back to those days of holding babies in that ever so special way.
Wishing everyone a happy Saturday with lots of snuggles. .
