"Sailing Supermoon" - This trip to San Francisco was planned around the supermoon, and it didn't disappoint. I followed the sailboat as the moon rose, hoping to catch both in the same frame. ⛵️🌕📷

Way latergram from that time we had more fun than two grown-ups should making silly faces into stainless steel 😜
Fun fact: I read in an article by @culturetrip that ‘The bean’ gets polished twice a day to maintain its mesmerizing shine
The initial idea for the Church was generated by the Society for the Construction of the Church of Saint Sava on Vračar in 1895, but construction was disrupted by the many wars of the 20th Century which rocked the Balkans.
The reconstruction began in earnest in 1985, with the dome needing to be constructed on the ground and lifted using hydraulic machines. The whole roof weighed thousands of tons and took 40 days to lift. The construction was halted again after 1999 bombings of Serbia, after which the Patriarch of Serbia decided the expensive enterprise was inappropriate when the people were experiencing hardship. The current construction appears to be largely funded by the Russian oil giant Gazprom, and is still under construction.
From the Trinity Bridge, you can see 7 other bridges: Ioannovsky, Palace, Prachechny, Hermitage, Upper Lebyazhy, Liteiny and Sampsonievsky.
⠀The Trinity Bridge is a landmark of Art Nouveau design.
⠀The bridge was built between 1897 and 1903 by the French firm Société de Construction des Batignolles which also constructed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Therefore the Trinity Bridge is called a horizontal Eiffel Tower.
⠀The architectural ensemble of the Spit of Yelaghin Island owes its appearance to the flood of September 23, 1924.
⠀They say that the island was completely covered with a wave, the water destroyed bridges, green spaces and washed away the western coast of the island. In order to eliminate the destruction and preserve architectural style of the island, it was decided to turn the western tip into a species platform. Thus, the embankment was created, all greenery was removed, and statues of lions were installed. The statues had been found at one of the destroyed noble cottages and restored to be transferred here.
⠀As for floods, they are one of the natural disasters treating the city since it had been founded. Approximately 290 floods have been registered in the history of St. Petersburg.
