In 1993, Kit Alqueza, son of a Gen. Alqueza, was initially charged with being the mastermind of the slaying of Allan Gomez. Invited to a one-on-one dialogue with then Vice President and Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC) Chief Joseph Estrada, Alqueza was led to a room full of media personnel and accused before national television of the crime without the benefit of a legal counsel and the chance to defend himself. Even as PACC witnesses stated categorically that their allegations were false, Estrada and CISC's Chief Supt. Angel Quizon held on to their story. Significantly, it was suggested by observers and opinion writers that the contrivance was aimed to divert the focus from Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez who had been identified by witnesses as the principal suspect in the UPLB case.
But despite the elimination of PACC's two witnesses Corcolon and Lavadia (who claimed they were tortured to extract false testimony against Alqueza); a vehement denial by a third witness, Rose Molina, of PACC's love triangle theory; and a statement by one Centeno, the driver of Sanchez, who pointed at Sanchez as the first to rape Sarmenta, Estrada and Lacson insisted that 19-year-old Alqueza masterminded the murder by paying Lavadia the puny sum of ₱21,000 to carry out the murder.
THE LAW OUT WEIGHS ANTONIO SANCHEZ's CRIMES. HE NEEDS TO DIE IN JAIL.

Philippine Airlines flies nonstop between New York City (JFK) and Manilla (MNL) with a new A350-900. At some 16+ hours, @flypal 126/127 is one of the longest nonstops in the world, and the onboard experience is pretty solid. This shot, taken on initial descent over Western Luzon was snapped by TPG reader Jez Sabaduqui on a recent trip. Tap the link in our bio for a report on what it's like onboard. And, since that article published, you can book the flight with @ana.japan points, which are transferable from @americanexpress.

“Admire other people's beauty and talent without questioning your own. Let people live their truth without it threatening yours. Be truly happy when others are blessed. Learn from everyone, but compare yourself to no-one. Stop striving to be better than others and just work toward being better than who you were yesterday. Don't waste time pointing out other people's flaws or you won't have enough time to focus on all of yours.” - Brooke Hampton

When our guide informed us that our next stop is Taklobo, I thought it’s the name of the resort or swimming area. But no, it’s deeper than that.
Taklobo is the local name for giant clams. And yes, there’s a sanctuary of giant clams underneath the waters near the floating cottages. If you’re amused with the Monfort Bat Sanctuary in the chambers in Samal, there’s more beautiful treasures under the sea worthy of exploration.
Start your week right. Put a smile on your face. It doesn’t cost you any peso to do so. 🤗

Here's to the girl with the invincible spirit, no matter how confused her soul may be. She's been broken many times, searching for love that was just not there. She's learned her lesson now, put up her wall, and never again her heart she'll bare. 👸🏻
"I have to go back again to Barracuda Lake on Coron Island. An absolutely highlight in the Philippines and a dream spot for every freediver! Calm water combined with clear views and impressive rock formations is in my opinion a very good combination." #TravelTip from @tomsonsn, take a kayak to visit Barracuda Lake. By noon, the tour groups leave the lake and create a uniquely peaceful experience. (🎥: @tomsonsn 📍: Barracuda Lake, #Philippines )
The Ruins by @stephengreenprice - I'm approaching my sixth month in the city of Bacolod but haven't yet featured it on my page. So here we are, I present to you The Ruins, which is a ruined mansion built in 1911 and burned down during WWII. I haven't actually seen an aerial view of this building before, which makes sense as drones are banned at this spot. It definitely wasn't easy getting permission to fly here but huge thanks to the management at The Ruins for allowing me to share such a beautiful structure with the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
