Rainy days call for comfy joggers, Counting games, and at least 94 cups of coffee. .
You guys, This new parallel tank is so flattering and comfortable. Plussss the gorgeous moss color is getting me super jazzed for all things fall 🍁🥰
"How will this affect my bottom line?"
As an artist, it's so easy to get caught up in the details...
Is the font just right? Is this the exact color? Should I move it slightly to the left?
Details matter but we have to remember not to get too wrapped up where it slows us down.
So the next time you return a project back to your admin with red marks, ask "Will this affect my bottom line?"
If the answer is no, LEAVE IT and MOVE ON!
After you start doing this consistently, you will be amazed at how much more productive you are as a business!
Excited to announce my next Street Dance workshop dates 😃 ✨

So I have an awkward confession: I suck at small talk, I actually hate small talk. .
Don’t get me wrong I’m great at convention, outgoing, and overly friendly. But I can only handle small talk for so long. I long for deeper connection and that sometimes make me feel super awkward. .
I can be in a circle of people talking and all of the sudden I slide out. Not because there’s anything wrong with peoples conversation, but because I don’t feel I can contribute. .
I like food, Target, and movies but I’m so much more interested in why people are hurting, what joys they’re experiencing, and what breakthroughs they’ve had, that I can’t talk about other things for long. .
More often than not this part of my personality makes me feel out of place. It makes me feel super awkward, like everyone can see how uncomfortable I am when these conversations are happening. I feel like they’re all looking at ma waiting for me to chime in and then... I quietly walk away instead. 🥺
People can be laughing and truly enjoying themselves and bam, I do my vanishing act. .
It’s not something I understood about myself till the past few years and I’m learning to actually appreciate about myself. It’s allowed me to recognize when to leave situations and has given me opportunity to walk into the right conversations because I’m not spending time in conversations that I don’t want to be in. .
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;...
I wanted to share this to bring some light to our own unique way of being. I’m all about being a work in progress and working on parts of ourselves that are difficult. But I’m also learning that some parts that make us uncomfortable, like my lack of care for small talk serve a purpose. In my case it allows my to make space for deep conversations with others when needed and gives others the freedom to let their guards down. People often overshare with me because I talk about whats bothering me or what I’m believing for. What’s something in your personality that can seem like a flaw, but if you change your perspective and maybe the way you handle it it could be some that makes you realize just how wonderfully made you are?
Happy Feel Good Friday! Today I want to celebrate @intellidance_miss_alaina who has just self-published her first children's book: The Dance Class! Keep reading to hear from her why she created the beautiful book featured in the video.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I designed and wrote my book The Dance Class especially for parents and dance teachers with little dancers. This book is perfect for reading anytime but especially at the beginning of the year or term session to give your little dancer(s) a good idea of what to expect at their early childhood dance class. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This book touches on different concepts such as speed and level and it has lots of great movement prompts to get your group up and interacting with the story!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When the little people in our lives are doing something new for the first time they can have lots of nervous feelings and energy. I created a book that has real pictures children can look at and maybe even see a child that looks like them in the big and bright pages. I wanted to find a fun way to help our little friends feel confident about themselves and get excited on their first day because they can see in the pages and hear in the simple story that they are going to have fun and feel safe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you have a first time dancer at your house? Maybe you are a dance teacher and you have a whole studio full of new dancers starting in September?! Give my book a go on the first day. I know it will calm some nerves and help everyone get a great idea of what to expect. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you and i hope you enjoy it! - Miss Alaina"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I truly love how universal dance is. Open classes show that magic. How we can come from all different lives and in the studio we work as one unit. Thank you to the dancers at @stepsonbroadway for sharing your love of dance with me •

#factfriday : The achilles tendon!
Regardless if you are physically active or not, this tendon is crucial for everyone. . Its main purpose is to allow the foot to flex so we can then push off the foot and extend the ankle to propel ourselves forward when we walk, and especially for jumping and landing.
This applies to dancers specifically when they plie (or bend their knees) to jump, and then land. The achilles is constantly being activated and utilized from the beginning of technique class or the dance, until the very end.
Dancers may commonly hear the feedback to put their heels down when they land from a jump. The crucial reason for this is to let the achilles relax for a moment and gives it a chance to recharge to help push off again.
If the heel does not entirely make it to the floor, the achilles constantly stays in flexion which then puts constant pressure on the tendon and can eventually lead to tendonitis or even a ruptured tendon. It's the equivalent of putting more stain on a piece of rope than it can handle, and eventually, the strain is so great the rope snaps.
Proper strengthening and stretching are equally needed to keep the achillies tendon healthy and at its max ability to aid the dancer.
"Everyone can dance, but it takes passion and drive to be a dancer." •••
Thursdays at Clay with these cool kids are going to be F•A•N•T•A•S•T•I•C!!! We had such a good time yesterday at the first night of hip hop at BDU in Clay! Beyond thankful to be able to share my passion at the studio where it all began. Dancer/ Actress: Kristi Somers
Actress: Betsy Russell
Footnote: I just created this edit, as I came across the full length movie online, and it’s the best quality version of this footage I’ve seen. I remember the shoot being a really fun day. The vibe on set was great. The schedule was reasonable, and we were treated very well. I also remember that we were actually dancing to a different song, and they dubbed this song in later.
Billy, do you remember which song you originally used?
The only glitch is that somehow they forgot to include us, the dancers names in the credits. I think that might be one of the contributing factors, that to this day, I am hyper diligant about crediting people!
Anyway - I was happy to come across this footage and to be able to share it. 💜 Pallas-Dance #pallasdance#pallasonair#dancersofinstagram#dancer#danceteacher#choreographer#choreographers#jazzdancers#tomboymovie#flashbackfriday#the80s

The last 2 weeks were full of intensives, teaching improv, modern, and tap to dancers ages 6-17, and I even subbed an adult ballet class last night! Immense gratitude and love to @cascobaymoversdance and @collectivemotion.me for these inspirational opportunities. 10 days off before fall dance sessions begin! 💜

Be Unique 📸 @rudybeaugendre
It’s Friday which means we can all relax a bit ... Sometimes we do so much in our lives and are running from A to B constantly. Whether it’s driving the kids to school quickly before work or rushing from work to the gym to get in our fitness in the week. Then you have all the other chores around the house, groceries , appointments, etc Our bodies can become run down.. This is why it’s all about the healthy balance. You deserve time to yourself and time to relax. 🤗
YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND will believe whatever you feed it. If you think you can't do something, it's job is to believe you. If you think you CAN do something, your brain will still believe you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your subconscious will carry out any orders you give it. If you say you're worthless, a failure, and a loser... Your mind will agree with you and create situations to reinforce those traits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But tell yourself that you're a caring, confident, happy person and worthy of love, your mind will agree with you again, and create examples of abundance in your life!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Which means, whatever you say to yourself, your mind WILL agree with you, and tell you yes, you're right!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Isn't that interesting?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So. What do you want your mind to believe?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
