F L O W . A late night post. And a very special one. I’ve been looking forward to doing this #drawthisinyourstyle for a while - because it’s hosted by @samy_loewe. I like his funny, tiny, clever and cute illustrations a lot. And he is one of the most active and hard-working artists I know here on Instagram. Make sure to check out his page :) Swipe to see details of the illustration and the original.
Thanks to all my family and friends for the warm Birthday wishes, it's been kindly overwhelming 😍❤💥 On some occasions we wish can hold time still, but it's amazing how time really fly. The old saying is all true: Time Does Not Wait For Anyone!
So no matter what age we are or we get to, cherish every moment and enjoy it. 🙌💥❤
Procedurally generated sneaker design. No displacements. All geometry.
I can pause at a precise moment in the animation where I like the look of the silhouette and then flesh it out into a full sneaker design. ♾Possibilities♾
A quick process shot on the @nasa project. After the initial sketch we get what’s on the left. Color is one of the most important parts of my illo process, and most of the time I choose no more than 5 colors (hues/tints of the same color count as a separate color), no matter how detailed the illustration is.
After that I make sure composition is as awesome as it can be to the point where it can stand alone as its own piece without the bells and whistles of extra detail, lighting, and texturing - build that foundation homies!
On the right is what I just described... lighting (highlights/shadows) and texturing. This part provides that ‘wow’ factor and the ‘I want to touch it’ feeling lol. I think most people that reach out to me about process focus on the technical aspect of this result, where really the most important is what you see on the left: composition/foundation. That was a mouthful lol hope that made sense everyone.
Huge shoutout to @lifeatpurdue , as this project stemmed from another project I worked on with them in collab with Nasa. I will be posting that project in the near future!

I’m thinking #AR adds a whole new level of interaction with what I do! Thanks to @staygrayponyboy and a few others for recommending @slide_ar to me! Obviously a huge thank you to @slide_ar for making such an amazing product 👊 More of these to come for sure
Also #tbt to one of my favorite illos I worked on last year.
