Enjoying some summer rooftop time in Chicago. Reached into a beer fridge full of unknowns and grabbed a @3floydsbrewing LazerSnake IPA. They bring some Bavarian hops to the party, and it isn't just lip service when they say it gives it a smooth and unfiltered feel that anyone would enjoy. At 7%, this is one of those beers you gotta watch out for cause it's really smooth and easy to drink, and pairs perfectly with a summer night. Cheers!
What a better place to celebrate #tapittuesday than the place with a wall full of taps. Better yet, our VCA is on tap!

Definitely can’t wait to visit again to check out their new beers & the new patio!

Parking: Large lot :)
When I ordered Dream Trails IPA at @thunderhawkalements the guy next to me at the bar said I made a good choice, because it was the best IPA in San Diego in his opinion. That was a bold statement, and after trying it I can see where he’s coming from. It’s a tasty, citrusy beer with a taste of mango. Pouring behind the bar was Jon, one of the owners and a very cool dude.

Dig deep enough and you'll find some interesting beers lost to time. Bottled October 2014, I'm cracking this one just shy of its 5th birthday. I wasn't sure if it had survived all the moves, but turns out it's really good. An imperial dark rye aged on cedar, El Toro Bravo from @theflyingmonkeys is full of big malty flavours- raisins, dried fruit, toffee and notes of spice and peppery rye. There's some jammy marmalade and orange notes, caramel sweetness and woody notes from the cedar aging. Very unique, I'm happy it held up.
In #bigskycountry in Alberta, couldn’t resist the photo op of the fields and fields of barley in the midst of #hoodoos and #fossils . Will these grains be on the way to Nita? Sadly no but they are on the way to another larger brewery with Nita in the name. Can you guess which one? Keep swiping left to find out who.

🦖 KING SUE ☄
Straight outta Iowa, @tgbrews never cease to impress me with their big, juicy, hoppy beers and King Sue has really cemented them as one of my favourite breweries across the globe. 🌎 🍺 King Sue is a full-bodied, juicy, Double IPA. The beer pours a creamy, light orange colour, a sudsy head, and a decadent, hazy opacity. Aromas of citrus and sweet stonefruit. Citra hops give off juicy mango, orange & pineapple character, with just a hint of piney bitterness. 🍍 Just the right hit of acidity, backed up with huge resin, and a touch of caramel malt. Only lightly carbonated, this DIPA has a thick, velvety mouthfeel, with a creamy, weighty sort of lingering finish. A big lover of Pseudo Sue & SOSUS, the King really does reign supreme 👑
Raspberry Rye Milk Porter @dainton.beer 🍓🥛
I've been wanting to make it to Dainton for quite a while now, and finally I had a free day!
Dainton brew pub is super cute, has yummy wood fired pizza, kick ass chips and even an outdoor area where you can bring your dogs!! 🐩
There was a great selection on tap, but I decided to go with the Raspberry Rye Milk Porter. This does not taste like a 6% beer, much lighter than a stout, which is a change from my usual dark preference. Dainton reminded me of my time in Scotland. When I lived there, I had many Galswegian twists on a @guinness , where blackcurrant cordial was added to the beer. Dainton brought me back to my Scottish days, except instead of blackcurrant it was raspberry and instead of Guinness, was Porter.
What interesting twists do you all do to your beers?
Old Pumping Station II Imperial Stout @mpbrewery - @apodliquor ☀️🏭
Yesterday was a perfect day! Although we didn't win netball, and although we're still in the midst of house renos, the weather was ON POINT! 👌 I literally went for 2 walks just to enjoy the sun. And what better way to celebrate a beautiful day then to drink a beautiful beer!
Old Pumping Station did not mess around! Aged in Tennessee Whiskey Barrels, it held sweet raisin notes and caramel flavours. It didn't shy away from its 10% ABV, leaving you with a sold and bold finish. Certainly one to keep in the fridge for a special occasion.
🥥 Dark Deeds Double Lamington 🍬 🍫 @deedsbrewing have nailed the traditional lamington with a thick and rich dessert beer. It's smooth, sweet and just a little bit boozy, with a pumped up ABV of 8.5%. Key characteristics of the Double Lamington are it's super jammy quality, thanks to a huge addition of over 200kg of raspberries in the batch. 🍇 A strong berry aroma contrasts well against a bitter, rich cacao base, and giving a sweet, tart taste. This brown ale benefits from a healthy dose of coconut as well, notable on the back end of the palate, with a coconut flavour more distinct than many beers I've tried before. 🥥
I heard rumour that @deedsbrewing have a small batch aging in a barrel, so fingers crossed those rumours are true and I look forward to trying it! 🤤
