It has been quite an emotional rollercoaster ride this trip.
To be able to finally meet (only some) relatives that I’ve haven’t met in decades, to visiting my “hometown”, to seeing places that I’ve heard of since young, over and over again from my father in person, it has been one of my dreams to visit this place; to document it, and most of all, to live and breathe the air my ancestors have breathed. I was like a child all over again.
To be honest, I don’t think a lot out there gets to be in this situation, to know your roots but not be able to visit them. But now that I have, I will make it a point to do so more often in my lifetime.
I’ll be sharing a lot more of it in the coming days. I’m in the midst of sorting out the vlog footages and photos. But for now, here’s a pretty rare view of Pontianak City from the sky. 💫
