I hope you read the news. The Amazon is on fire, disastrously.
Many of us have never been to Amazon, me neither. Yet we might have been to other rainforests in the world and we should have known how important the role of rainforests play to the world.
But The Amazon is different. It is the largest rainforest on earth. It produces about 20% of the world’s oxygen. It is home to millions species of flora and fauna.
I’m not a prayer type of person and here are the brief actions we could do.
-Donate to foundation or organisation which will help fight against the fire directly or indirectly
-Share with your friends and family
-Vote for politicians that care for conversation and climate change
And if any of you have been living relatively environmentally friendly by “reduce, recycle, reuse” on anything you encounter daily, like using less power or recycling paper or etc and you feel like you would want to commit more, I sincerely suggest to try stop consuming meat, especially beef. If not a full stop, then less.
If you add up the characters danger and opportunity and put it together, it means the word crisis (危機) in Chinese. This philosophy perfectly reflect and explaining the state of mind of our ancient ancestors.
A scenic sight without many tourist can significantly improve the quality of the travel experience and the environment around, but it can also be devastating on the local economy as well…
Therefore, it is very hard for us human or the mother nature to get to the balance between these two. But I believe there is a balance for sure!! .
What would you do?
