SALES ACROSS THE TRACKS
— [pic1] Stalls selling clothes and textiles sprawl along the Pamunuwa Road in Maharagama; even spilling onto the railway tracks of the busy Kelani Valley Line which runs from Colombo to Avissawella. The massive textile bazaar that stretches from Maharagama to Pamunuwa is one of Sri Lanka’s biggest centers for cheap clothes and, during the run up to religious festivals, sees a huge number of retail shoppers, in addition to the regular wholesale customers. During these times, space is at a premium, and many small businessmen just run out of space. Sri Lanka, April 2018. [pic2] A shout announces the arrival of a train, and there is a scramble to move makeshift clothes stalls off the tracks in time. [pic3] A municipal worker walks along the tracks before the train arrives, to make sure they are clear of stalls.
The most authentic tree house you'll ever see. It's got a small clay bench for cooking, a view over the farmers fields and beyond and is used as an overnight shelter to protect the crops from hungry Elephants! Can Sri Lanka be any more magical?

In the past year I’ve been to more waterfalls than in my remaining 29 years combined.
This is hands down the highest, most dangerous-yet-breathtaking one I’ve ever seen. #diyalumafalls ’ 200+ mt heights triggered my vertigo like watching someone handling their phones suspended over balconies or from heights (yep, it’s a thing 🙄). If you hike there, get plenty of drinking water as you have to go through a dry and boiling desert route before reaching Sri Lanka’s version of Eden’s Garden 🌱
