Just like people, animals can be injured by flooding, winds, flying debris and other dangers associated with natural calamities. Thus, the ability to protect them in advance from these dangers greatly reduces the chance of injury to livestock.
Even when it would be possible to help them, most animals affected by natural disasters are left to die or to endure debilitating injuries that could have healed with proper treatment.
NOTE: Please contact your nearby animal shelters or spread the awareness via virtual world with posts urging all to spare a thought for the helpless stray animals who seek respite from the pouring skies under deserted garbage bins or parked cars.

Summer can be a magical season, full of hot, lazy days by the river, ice cream for dinner, and best of all, waterfalls...at least in the desert. However, there is a dangerous side to summer in Zion-the monsoon. •
The monsoon commonly occurs from July through September, when warm, moist air is pushed up from the south. As the day heats up, large thunderstorms can form and send torrential rains hurtling down. •
Beautiful, ephemeral waterfalls appear when it rains and vanish just as quickly. However, rain can lead to something much more dangerous--flash floods. Flash floods can and have been deadly and you do not want to be in a narrow canyon (like the Narrows) when a flood hits. •
Before hiking the Narrows or going canyoneering, make sure to check the weather and flash flood potential at the Visitor Center. For more information about flash floods and their dangers, visit our website: https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/flash-flood.htm • #Zion#nationalpark#monsoon#flashflood#danger#planaheadandprepare#checkaforecast#turnarounddontdrown
Please swipe through for full story: I have been an avid outdoorsman and hiker all my life in my native state of Arizona. Last weekend was supposed to be storm free and I went to one of the most remote places in Arizona. Driving 4 hrs. and 4WD another hour and then hiking in about 10 miles. It was hot and mostly sunny but a few light sprinkles towards the latter part of the day. I was about 500 yards from my intended destination ( a hot spring) when something made me do what I’ve never done before… turn back. I had this overwhelming feeling of dread that something awful was about to happen. I listened to that premonition and I’m grateful I did. Less than five minutes after I took the first video I made my way down the canyon through the maze of rocks you can see in the third picture. As I was approaching the last pool which is about 30 foot long and starts out about 5 feet deep I heard something that sent shivers up my spine. It sounded like a freight train -a low rumble at first and so loud as to induce terror like I’ve never felt. I knew exactly what it was and raced with all my might across that pool thinking if I could make it around the corner, I might make it to safety. I was able to take one quick glance behind me and saw a 10 foot wall of angry brown water crashing through the narrow canyon. I reached the corner just as the wall of water hit and was able to scramble up the side of a cliff and eventually took out my phone and took the video of the flash flood. This was a great lesson for me- very humbling. I am posting this because I have lots of friends who do the same thing and I see the pictures of them floating and playing around in the swimming holes in the narrow canyons. Flash floods can happen from rain falling miles away- even when it’s sunny where you are and had I not listened to that voice I certainly would’ve been swept to my death. Please be careful out there my friends… Always err on the side of caution. 🙏❤️ #flashflood#flashfloodsafety#azmonsoonseason
