Lungo la strada per Kashan, ho chiesto a Sayid se poteva spiegarmi la difficile questione sciiti-sunniti.
“Your curiosity is beautiful, please come with me.”
Abbiamo quindi fatto una deviazione e ci siamo diretti a Qom, nell’Iran Centrale.
“I want to introduce you to my dear friend, you can ask him whatever you want about Islam.”
They are killers and it’s a great pain for us that the world believes we’re all the same. First of all they want us, the muslims, to be dead: they destroy our monuments and kill our people as they say we’re polytheists. They are ignorant people and ignorance is the most powerful weapon in the world. That’s why we study a lot.”
È stato un momento di grande commozione e intensità. Ho capito più in questa ora di colloquio che in migliaia di articoli letti sul tema.
Al termine, abbiamo chiesto cosa potessimo fare per ringraziarlo del tempo dedicatoci: “It’s a gift to us that you came to discover Iran. Please, be our ambassadors in you country and tell your people we preach tolerance and peace.”
Accompagnandoci all’uscita, ci ha mostrato la preghiera che ogni musulmano deve recitare all’ingresso della moschea: un saluto a Maometto, un saluto a Fatima, un saluto a Gesù.
Con un sorriso, ha aggiunto: “You see, we’re all brothers in the end.”
Ho versato le lacrime migliori della mia vita.
Ps: un grande photo credit ad Ale che ha colto il momentum.

Hi! WE’RE LAUREN & BEN!! Looks like we have a bunch of new wonderful faces around here, so it’s about high time we re-introduce ourselves!
We’re a couple of travelers (in ALLL kinds of love with each other, baby!!), who met (and started dating) over 9 years ago. In a nutshell, we’re college sweethearts who graduated from UCLA, and have embarked on a lifelong, world-chasing journey together, chasing a life of passion, whimsy, and wonder!
While travel is our ULTIMATE passion, we also are radically jazzed by FAMILY, cooking, EATING, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, hiking, happy houring, art, stand up comedy, bargain-hunting, and just constant, daily snuggles.
We are both LA-born and raised (woot woot!!), although Lauren moved to Parkland, Florida when she was 12 years old, and moved back to LA after graduating high school. A few months after moving back to LA, boy meets girl, there were feathers in the air (it was a whole thing), and then, TA-DA!! We have #Laurenjamin 😂😂😂
Ben’s FIRST OVERSEAS INTERNATIONAL TRIP EVER was to visit Lauren when she was studying in Prague (check out our #STORIES for a cute #tbt from this trip!). And Lauren’s was to the Philippines…when she was 2 years old. She doesn’t remember it at all but the home videos are freaking priceless. 😆
BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR #COUPLESTRAVELVIBES , you ask? It started with a short, yet chaotic backpacking trip to Peru together (we found $299 flights and couldn’t resist. Bc hello, we’re bargain hunters). But it wasn’t ’til after we graduated from college that we cemented our travel addiction. On a whim, we interviewed for a teaching position at a private school in South Korea. LITERALLY ONE MONTH LATER we were boarding a plane to Asia to make our new lives together on Jeju Island, the “Hawaii of South Korea!”
We lived in Korea for 2 YEARS, traveling around Asia every chance we got, all the while toiling away on our little passion project: our travel blog, www.televisionofnomads.com
BTW, if you’ve read all the way to this part, YOU’RE AMAZING. We’d LOVE to get to know you as well, so feel free to leave a comment sharing a lil tidbit about yourself below!
A train ride winding through the Lauterbrunnen Valley sounds like a slice of heaven 😇 You can find our list of 16 festive train rides to take for the holidays at the link in bio.
Black sand beach is truly magical.
The icebergs drifting ashore from Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon on the black volcanic sand create a perfect contrast of blue sea, black sand and transparent ice looking like uncut diamonds bathing in the glorious sunshine.
Bank holiday around the corner!
Last year we went and explored beautiful Belgium, this year we’ll stay local crossing our fingers that the sun spends the weekend with us! #grandplacebrussels#beautifularchitecture
