Wonder why you feel hungrier when you are tired? Turns out there is a scientific reason for it. Researchers found that sleep deprivation actually increases your brain’s sensitivity to food smells. When tired, the piriform cortex and orbitofrontal cortex, both areas of the brain involved in olfaction, show greater brain activity in response to food smells than nonfood smells. As Coldplay once wisely said, "and it was all yellow". Been proper lazy and got some streamfresh rice to have with more of my coconut dhal, plus an orange for dessert. Didn't realise it was all gonna be the same colour but nvm, I'm sure there's some nutrients hiding in there somewhere. Lunch was also the same as yesterday. Thereafter leading to a Popeyes response, then Wendy’s simultaneously jumped into the fued calling them both fools and more. Chick-Fil-A announced their inaugural international expansion with the first store opening here in Canada! Leg day and definitely theonly thing getting me through today is my outfit. I'm feeling defeated this week and this cut is taking it's toll, but you wouldn't know with my cheerful outfit. I was starving after my workout today... craaaaaaaving eggs... and homefries... and bacon... and banana pancakes... and buttered sour dough toast, and... well, that’s how I ended up here. Fairly certain the waitresses had side bets going on how much I’d finish. (I’m only slightly ashamed that I devoured about 85% of it).

Do you remember your grandma making 1950s style casseroles for you as a kid? I sure do. My Nonna 👵🏻 would make “Chili Cheese Squares” for 🎄 breakfast every year. The look of Italian rage that would come over her face if you dare suggest anything different would put you in an early grave (not that anyone would want to, it’s delicious!). But let’s be real. Nothing my Nonna made for Christmas was healthy.
In an effort to find an easy breakfast for the Mr. 🧔🏻 and myself, I turned to her recipe and was able to tweak it to make it healthier. It’s still high in fat, but it’s also really high in protein and low in carbs. And best of all, it didn’t sacrifice flavor. 😋
I make the “egg dish” every Sunday and it is SO easy. I put on a podcast or @audible and enjoy being in the kitchen, doing something that keeps me connected to my Nonna, who I miss very much. It’s a win win!

Let’s be real. No food is “junk”. 🙅♀️Food is food. Sure, some have a little more nutrients than others, but none of it is junk. One of my clients in my 1:1 coaching program recently told me “I feel like I can’t stop eating JUNK!” 😫First thing, we clarified that no food is “junk”. Second thing, I told her this is 180% normal. When you’ve deemed food as “junk” for so long and didn’t allow yourself to eat it OF COURSE your body is going to soak it all up when it’s finally allowed to have some. ✨It’s literally a biological response. ✨It thinks the “junk” is scarce, so it stocks up on it while it can. .
After assuring her that she wasn’t going cray-cray 🤪and wouldn't be living off of thin mints for the rest of her life, we set out to teach her how to eat these ‘junk’ foods without going “overboard” and feeling food coma-ed. ☺️To eat them in a way that she still felt like she could move and feel fab. 🤩A week later we chatted and she couldn’t stop GUSHING about how much better she felt and that she actually wanted to eat some fruit and veggies again. 🍎🥕Not because she felt that she “should” but she legit WANTED to. And guess what? She still had some of those thin mints, cause, uh.. they’re heaven. 😍BUT she didn’t feel over stuffed, guilty, or stressed about it. Amazing, right?❤️
