Bali’s branding of a beach paradise is so established that most do not see beyond it. Once you dig deeper into her cultural aspect, you will find the abundance of cemeteries that dot the island together with the horror stories that accompany them.
Balinese culture speaks of the presence of Leak – an evil witch spirit that feeds off the organs of mostly the dead, and living if it has to. It’s no surprise then that the Trunyan Village is a hunting ground. The village practices leaving the deceased in the open after a grand ceremony rather than burying or cremating them. #scary#spooky#ghost#horror#haunted#paranormal#paranormalactivity#danger#death#history#spirits#baliindonesia#trunyanvillage
GOVERNMENT DISINFORMATION - For the purpose of spreading false information to deceive and influence - therefore control. This is a subset of misinformation.
The origin of the practice and the word disinformation itself comes from the Russian dezinformatsiya, which was derived from the title of a KGB black propaganda department.
Joseph Stalin invented the word, giving it a French sounding name so to appear it had a Western origin.
Russian KGB setup their “special disinformation office" in 1923.
An example of Soviet disinformation is Operation INFEKTION a disinformation campaign to influence opinion that the United States CIA invented the AIDS virus.
Disinfo practices have now spread to most first-world governments and has become incredibly sophisticated, making it very difficult to identify.
During the 2016 US election and the UK Brexit vote of the same year Russian disinformation reached levels so sophisticated that it likely affected the outcome of both results.
In comparison US, UK and European disinfo are even more difficult to identify with most if not all media outlets either wilfully supporting the campaigns or being duped themselves by security services into spreading the desired message.
Whilst the practice of disinformation has historically been a tool of espionage and covert attack on foreign nations, it is now used commonplace against a governments own people.
CAN YOU SPOT DISINFORMATION?
The Unlucky Mummy” isn’t a mummy at all, but a “painted wooden mummy-board of an unidentified woman.” This mummy-board is currently housed at the British Museum in London, but rumor had it, it got around in its day. Apparently, during its early time at the museum, the staff would hear loud banging coming from the artifact.
One man took a photograph of the mummy-board and was horrified by the image that appeared once he developed the photograph.
The eerie events continued until a museum guard died of suspicious circumstances. Believing the coffin was cursed, the museum wanted to get rid of it as quickly as possible, so it was sold to an American archaeologist. He took the mummy-board with him onto his America-bound ship, the Titanic. Some people speculate that the presence of the cursed mummy-board caused its disastrous sinking.
