Our Lady of Monsterrat Roman Catholic Church, Tortuga. "Almost 125 years old and arguably the oldest church in Trinidad and Tobago, the church of Our Lady of Montserrat is also well known as a Shrine to Our Lady...The church is also sometimes called the Church of Many Statues because it has statues of some 19 saints donated over the years by wealthy cocoa plantation owners. Beautiful stained glass windows, bought in France over 100 years ago adorn the three altars of the church. Also of great historical interest are the hand-painted “Stations of the Cross”, mounted in beautiful frames made of oak" - http://nationaltrust.tt/location/our-lady-of-montserrat/
#mountdora fun fact... This little #lighthouse is known as the #mountdoralighthouse and is a historical monument for the town. It’s even found itself to be quite iconic, making its way onto logos around the town.

In the 3rd of our #WorldLandmarks series, we are heading over to #India to take a look at the beautiful #GoldenTemple
Otherwise known as "Harmandar Sahib", this stunning feat of architecture is a sacred place of worship for Sikhs, although people of all faiths are welcome.
The Gurdwara sahib is built around a man-made pool (Sarovar) that was completed in 1577. Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru of Sikhism, requested Sai Mian Mir – a Muslim Pir of Lahore, to lay its foundation stone in 1589.
Just a few of the beautiful vibrant images I captured touring @caramoor. The tour of #rosenhouse is a must see, PLUS its air conditioned and a wonderful way to spend a sizzling summer afternoon. Stay tuned for more great photos from our visit of this #westchester#historicallandmark ! For information on visiting #caramoor and a list of upcoming events go to https://www.caramoor.org
●A Tribute to the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) By Jim Lawlor, BHS (Monte A. Pratt Edited)●
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and The Bahamas Historical Society owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE). The IODE, formed in 1900, was a woman’s charitable organization dedicated to community service, child welfare and distressed citizens.
On Empire Day 24th May 1905, The IODE unveiled the statue of Queen Victoria in Rawson’s Square. In October 1976 they donated their IODE Headquarters, Elizabeth Avenue & Shirley Street (Picture-4) to The Bahamas Historical Society. We developed the hall into the museum it is today.

#DidYouKnow ? The Beemster Polder is a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the countryside of North Holland, just miles from the North Sea! The Polder is a former coastal lagoon that was reclaimed from underwater in the early 17th century and filled with fields, canals, and dikes. 💚🇳🇱
