This photo cracks me up and sums up so much of this incredible weekend. Here I am listening to my dear friend @danyellesjourney share, trying not to cry and my fearless leader NVP @tammyhigginbothamarbonne is here supporting and loving me. Supported, loved, inspired. Crazy face but embracing the power of feeling, letting myself cry and feel it all. This weekend was blessed and just what I needed. Thank you to all of the men and women who tirelessly planned an incredible weekend and modeling service and loving others well! @carleetanelson it was an amazing weekend! ❤️
If you are feeling stressed, anxious or emotional, the following mindfulness exercise may assist you to feel more grounded. You can do this anywhere, but I enjoy doing the exercise in natural settings.
1. Sit in a comfortable upright position with your feet flat on the ground.
2. Notice your breathe. No need to breathe in any particular way.
3. Bring awareness to each of your 5 senses. 1 at a time, for about 1 minute each. The point here is to focus on the present moment & how each sense is being activated in that moment. The order in which you pay attention to each sense does not matter. 🌻
HEAR: attend to sounds in & around you. Try not to judge the sounds- just notice them.
SMELL: Now shift your attention & notice the smells in your environment. Sometimes closing your eyes can help sharpen your attention.
SEE: Observe your surroundings & notice the colours, shapes & textures
TASTE: You can do this one even if you have food in your mouth. You can just notice your tongue in your mouth, your saliva, & your breath as you exhale.
TOUCH: next notice the sensations of your contact with your chair, clothing, & feet on the floor. You can notice the pressure between your feet & the floor or your body & the chair. 🌻
If you get distracted, notice your thoughts, then redirect your attention to the present moment.
When finished, pause to notice how you feel in this moment. Compare how you feel now with how you felt 5 minutes ago - what has changed?
Visiting the Giza Plateau was one of the best travel experiences of my life. The 9 pyramids at Giza were wondrous, as was the Sphinx standing guard. We saw Nefertitis tomb, climbed down into a pyramid, had a touristy camel ride, and saw how papyrus is made. Loved every minute.
It is very easy to be mindful, grateful, relaxed and in the moment in such a special ancient place. To be mindful is to be intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment.
A beautiful lake surrounded by fragrant wild lupins in New Zealand caught our eye as we drove a motor home around NZ in early summer. So very tranquil and peaceful - it was as if the world had just stopped.
Appreciating life is sometimes as simple as sitting and embracing a fleeting moment with nature or with others. Allowing the senses to immerse in the situation and the mind to disengage from distractions and other thoughts. Just being in the moment and noticing.
There has been some fascinating findings in psychological research regarding the therapeutic benefits of savouring the world around you. Some examples are:
Older adults who can savour report more intense and frequent happiness.
Greater sense of meaning in life.
Stronger relationship bonds.
Reduced neurotism, a Big Five personality trait characterised by negative emotions and sensitivity to stress.
Less depression, stress and anxiety symptoms
A greater sense of meaning in life.
Worth thinking about.
This is one of the latest exciting projects I‘ve been working on! I illustrated the cover for #28 of @inthemomentmag!
Thank you for this great project! Loved working on it!
This issue will be available next Tuesday in the UK! YAY!
The peaks are on fire! I have never seen a better example of #alpenglow ...the optical phenomenon when the sun dips below the horizon and so light is reflected from ice crystals on the mountains and clouds.

In life you will realize that there is a purpose for every person you meet.
Some are there to test you, some will use you, some will teach you, and some will bring out the best in you.
Treasure every moment and every person❤️
