Five years ago at Cascia in Umbria laughing with my friend Ines, remembering having toyed at the age of 11 with the idea of being a nun. I’d quit my job in the City two months before, travelled to Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Corfu, Italy, had my fragile hopeful heart torn - it broke properly later - and despite feeling my healthiest and fittest I became ill for a year when I got home. Laughter is the best way I’ve ever found with coping with life and my fellows. Five years later I’m in Denmark on a kind of Kierkegaard pilgrimage, the father of existentialism. I like his wisdom. I like the way he saw the world. He was tremendously honest. He was mocked and despised by his peers, but loved by all those he met and chatted to in the street on his long daily walks. And I just read this, “Something wonderful has happened to me. I was carried up into the seventh heaven. There all the gods sat assembled. By special grace I was granted the favour of a wish. "Will you," said Mercury, "have youth, or beauty, or power, or a long life, or the most beautiful maiden, or any of the other glories we have in the chest? Choose, but only one thing." For a moment I was at a loss. Then I addressed myself to the gods as follows: "Most honourable contemporaries, I choose this one thing, that I may always have the laugh on my side." Not one of the gods said a word, on the contrary, they all began to laugh. Hence, I concluded that my request was granted, and found that the gods knew how to express themselves with great taste; for it would hardly have been suitable for them to answer gravely: "It is granted thee” Søren Kierkegaard, Either/Or: A Fragment of Life ❤️ #sorenkierkegaard#eitheror#denmark#laugh#existentialism
A few months ago my sisters and I did dishes to raise funds to put up our dad's headstone this coming Nov, one of my close friends @mommytaidan assisted us and said to help someone in the hospital.
It took a while but we decided to get 2 tins of Formula milk for babies in the Special Care Nursery. Formula Milk is only adviced for infants if there is no other option. Babies who will need this are those who are abandoned by their mothers (yes, this actually happens) and babies whose mothers die after childbirth... Apologies for this lenghty message but its an appreciation post ❤❤❤ thanks benebn jnr
