After an almost 6.5 hour’s bus journey, @backpackerspanchgani aka @zostel was a warm hug!
We booked our bus tickets through @redbusindia. The tickets to panchgani cost roughly between INR 400-700 bucks. The government buses are even cheaper than that.
The bus dropped us off right outside Zostel (You have to mention it to the bus conductor otherwise either you’ll end up walking back 2KM with your luggage or spend an INR 100 bucks or so to be dropped to Zostel) *Stay: We had booked the room with the valley view; one may opt for a dorm which works out cheaper. 3 nights worked up to approximately INR 7.5K (excluding breakfast) *Food: Breakfast is a buffet layout for INR 150 bucks, otherwise throughout the day the kitchen runs with scrumptious meals which are perfectly suited for a single person. From rice bowls to yummy appetizers, Zostel offers it all. *Ambience: Zostel manages to bring travellers together by hosting evening and night treks, common rooms with games, music, comfortable seating and lastly, having stringent rules about not letting a group of more than 6 people coming and staying together. *Over all: Zostel stands out from other places because of its scenic view, great hospitality and its proximity to the hot spots of Panchghani. 📍Zostel, Panchghani —————————————

.... | Day 3 : Sunset | ....
It was too late to take a leap for paragliding. The setting sun was spreading its largesse into the grateful sky, rich hues of red blended with orange, purple, crimson. A rooftop of South Indian restaurant in Bir, was our resort for enjoying the beautiful sunset. Fellow paragliders were returning to ground after a 20- 25 minutes of bird's eye view of the Kangra valley and golden shine of majestic Dhauladhar range. I was thinking about some unsung heroes I heard... The pilot I met in the morning had stood second in an event of 2015 World Paragliding Championship in Bir, ... a couple who went to Manali from Billing by paragliding...
Suddenly I felt her absence. It was like waking up one day with no teeth. You wouldn't need to run to the mirror to know they are gone. I started missing our leisurely afternoons, our private childish conversations about each passers-by, our strolls through unknown mud trails in mountains. I started missing her angry faces, her giggles, her annoyance, her intense trials to make me smile when I am angry. I started cherishing every little things we have shared together. I reached to my phone to call her.
No, I stopped. Let this moment be mine only. Let me, be flooded with memories, which occasionally occurs to me. Let this moment be my guiding start for many more coming years. I started smiling again but this time with her memory.
"If you were the setting sun,
I would be the blushing sky
Begging you to stay".

Jab Jab Dard Ka Baadal Chaya
Jab Gham Ka Saya Lehraya
Jab Aansoo Palkon Tak Aya
Jab Yeh Tanha Dil Ghabraya
Humne Dil Ko Yeh Samjhaya
Dil Aakhir Tu Kyun Rota Hai
Duniya Mein Yunhi Hota Hai (The below line is the answer to many of our questions)
Yeh Jo Gehre Sannate Hain
Waqt Ne Sabko Hi Baatey Hain
Thoda Ghum Hai Sabka Kissa
Thodi Dhoop Hai Sabka Hissa
Aankh Teri Bekaar Hi Nam Hai
Har Pal Ek Naya Mausam Hai
Kyun Tu Aise Pal Khota Hai
Dil Aakhir Tu Kyu Rota Hai
Shades of the Sea.
A quiet town. A lighthouse, gloomy and quaint, slightly inland, along the road where you surely stop by to check for human activity and if you are on the right track heading onto the beach. With a stiff back and the scarce inhabitation in the town that you see, there is little that you anticipate. You're half expecting an anticlimax to a long excursion that you've had on a day long drive all the way here. And then, just as the evening turns into its purple hour, your car screeches to a halt on the sand. You've made it. What was hidden until now by the loose mangroves is right in front of your eyes. The vast stretch of water, the now pink sky, a few fisherwomen and you.
Vedaranyam is a quiet, humble town in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. And this beach at Point Calimere, an even quieter part, south of the town is nothing but a revelation to one's senses. It was during my internship days that a road trip with my colleagues got me here. A creek within the mangroves leads to the sea ahead. As you walk ahead, you see the sun turning orange. The water is turning violent over the high tide. What's intriguing is that you can see the sea towards the south and beyond. Forming a right angle along the marshes, this is one of those rare beaches where you can witness the sun set and rise the next morning.
For me, what made this beach memorable was the experience of being there, in that moment, with others. In a spur of the moment, we asked the passing fisherwomen about their fish and interestingly, they offered to sell us one. And there we were, cooking a mackerel over an amateurish fire, without any seasoning, looking at the sky turn dark as the flames around us took over from the setting sun. That was one of the tastiest meals I've had. And the sky, it was the most beautiful starlit sky I had ever seen. An evening that was an epiphany of sorts, turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences ever. For there was company, the stars and the sea.
It was a bliss to celebrate my Tech-free birthday vacation in one of the most gorgeous places in the world ! I realised no camera lens can give justice to the beauty of this paradise. One of the places I visited which is way more beautiful in reality than on camera. You have to visit it to be spellbound by its natural beauty! With so many edits n filter options ,today we can portray even a basic location as exotic. Honestly (and thankfully) the scenario is not the same with Maldives. Using a basic Mi phone to capture the magic was like scratching the tip of the iceberg😁
I understand that there are days when you can't find the sunshine even when it's just outside your little window.
But you need to remind yourself that you have been the only one who carried yourself through all your pain and heartbreaks.
You are the only one who sits alone and cries in the corner of the room and then wipes your eyes and tries to smile.
You should never forget that you are the only one who sits with your numb cold body under the running shower and then picks it up, and dries it and warms it and take care of it.
You are the only one feeds it an entire tub of ice cream even when you aren't hungry, and watches romantic comedies when you are sad, and sways to the tones of Coldplay so that you'll fall sleep peacefully and wakes up everyday so that you remember that you have another chance to minimise your ache by doing all the things that you can while you wish to heal.
Instead of being sad, you should be proud of yourself.
While everyone around you is trying to hurt you and numb you and bleed you dry, you fight and stand up and pick yourself everyday - and sometimes, sometimes that's all you need.
💫✨———————————————————— The Monte San Salvatore is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps above Lake Lugano and the city of Lugano in Switzerland. The Monte San Salvatore funicular links the city with the summit of the mountain. The village on top of its peaks, Carona, is a popular destination to enjoy views over Lake Lugano and to walk through the exotic plants..
From the mountain top, you can descend down along the hiking trail that leads to Ciona (Carona) or to Pazzallo and Paradiso. It winds its way through beautiful landscape with several lookout points offering magnificent panoramic views. ⠀⠀
“You need to have been up there in person, if you want to get an idea of its greatness and magnificence, and then that moment will become one of the most beautiful and unforgettable experiences in your whole life.”
C. C. Lorenz Hirschfeld.
From the top of Mount San Salvatore, the views are especially impressive and magnificent, a complete 360 degrees. .
For the longest time I believed It's the songs we listen to that make us who we are. I've been wrong, all along. It's us who maketh the songs. I realized this on my way to Himachal as the bus sped parallelly with my musings of what I want to do with my future, my eyes constantly adjusting to the changing lanscapes, as the earpods hummed, "Ore man va tu toh bawara hai, tu hi jaane tu kya sochta hai." Or later, when the roads to where I wanted to go were still blocked despite my hope, leading to us changing both the route and the destination, the car's radio surprisingly had Shaan lending his melodious voice to the words, "Baithe baithe aise kaise koi rasta naya sa mile", mirroring my thoughts. Or on this particular chilly evening when I found myself being surrounded by the mesmerizing, sky kissing Deodar trees, my heart in love with the silence it was once scared of and my mind subconsciously remembering the lyrics to Pashmina in which Amit Tridevi vehemently sang, "kacchi hawa, kaccha dhua ghul raha, kaccha sa dil lamhe naye chun raha". Or in that split second during the entire trip where I actually began to enjoy the uncertainty of it and of life itself, this time my phone playing the classic Dil Chahta Hai verse, "Kaisa ajab yeh safar hai socho toh har ek hi bekhabar hai, humko jaana kidhar hai, jo waqt aaye jaye kya sikahaye...". Or when there were only a few days left and I started missing the comfort of my bed and home cooked Dal and it was Ranbir Kapoor who looked as confused as me on the screen of a mini television of the hillside hotel we were staying at, "Kaisi teri khudgarzi na dhup chune na chaav, kaisi teri khudgarzi kisi thor tike na paaon". At the end of it all, I realized I didn't even need a song playing in the background, just the wind as it whips against my face, the palm of my hand forming waves outside my window, the nature strumming its own sweet music as the universe sings along with me...
"Hawa mein beh rahi hai zindagi
Yeh hum se keh rahi hai zindagi
Oho, ab toh, jo bhi ho so ho".

Friday is my favourite day! Which one is yours?
The picture is from secret Gili island in Lombok. Gili Air, and T have gained tremendous popularity in last 1-2 years but guess what, Lombok has many more secrets islands which not many people know about. This was Gili Nagu, a paradise for snorkelling and scuba diving. I found Nimo, blue star fishes and purple corals (and almost drowned as well 🙉)! #tannedtravelgirl
