I was inspired by @blackmagiccraft_official and /r/DNDIY to start working on this modular tavern! It's my first time ever creating a model from scratch but thankfully Black Magic Craft is an amazing sensei. Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions on ways I could make it better!
I started with a single floor building and made the roof removable. Later on I realized I actually wanted a second floor as well to give the building more character. Since I don't have any minis, I used a Tigger figurine for a place holder because it was roughly 28mm scale!
I also bought the wrong foam board from officemax and the paper is almost impossible to remove. But I made use of what I had and built the basic shapes of the building with these foam pieces and hot glue.
I used BMC's egg carton technique for the stones and thought it looked super rad! I'll probably use this technique for my next building because it was so dang easy (and because I didn't buy any good foam for this project). The rest of the wood work (shingles, support beams, etc) are all created with either popsicle sticks or coffee stirring sticks. Don't make the same mistake I did!! Weather your wood before cutting and gluing! I totally forgot to weather my stuff before cutting the shingles and gluing them down. I didn't realize until it was too late.
I also used BMC's modpodge+black acrylic basecoat idea. That worked perfectly and let me see the model a lot better when painting. I'm not SUUUPER happy with the paint job for the lower level so I might actually redo it at some point, but it's good enough for my first project and I'm just glad I got this far without messing anything up too royally. :) #dnd#d &d #dungeonsanddragons#dndiy#blackmagiccraft#modelbuilding#fantasy#tavern#mini#miniature#dndcraft#homemademinis#diy#crafts
It was about that time when we visited #murudeshwartemple in Karnataka.
Oh my god! You see a huge and gigantic statue of #lordshiva from miles before you even reach there. And the Building like structure you see, that contains all miniature #statues well that's just the entrance gate. And the statues seem #miniature but they really are normally sized, it's because the gate is huge, they seem miniature in comparison.
I was #astonished at the way this place is build and the #hygeine that they've maintained is upto the mark. If you're planning to go to Karnataka, #murudeshwar is something you just can't miss.
I don't really know how can we measure the simplicity and the enormity and the beauty of this place. I'm loosing all the adjectives in my language to explain how grateful I am that I visited such a magical place.
No! I'm not a huge religious in that sense, but I really love the idea that some good person believes in something truly and that faith or belief is so pure and real.
If any of you reading this happen to visit the place, then please do tag me in your post, I'd really love to see your angles of #murudeshwarabeach tell me how you like it.

Crow watercolor + gouache miniature painting process. From sketch to final on Arches @arches.art A4 cold pressed grain fin watercolor paper. I’m in love with how brush strokes clings to this paper texture, this’s so cool🤤
Oh, do i miss to stitch my tiny women? I’m so glad that i finally broke the ‘curse’ of not to be able to start a piece since the beginning of the year. I found out the reason is i sketched them bigger than usual to be able to work better with sequins and beads however i started to procrastinate because they seemed too big for me to complete. Guess i’m really a person of ‘tiny stitches’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yesterday I decided to take a little break between custom orders and to experiment with a new paper. Usually I use cold pressed paper (Canson Montval, 300 g/m) with visible texture, which I get used to and I really love the quality. I often read a lot about miniature painting techniques and materials to make progress and get more skills, and noticed that experienced miniaturists recommend to work on a hot pressed paper, because it has a smoother texture, which is much better for tiny details. I have tried few brands that I was not very happy with. And finally I have found the paper I like. Fabriano Studio Watercolor (hot pressed, 300 g/m). It has a silky smooth surface, and I am really happy with result.
It is not an advertising 😃 I just want to share my experience, because I know a lot of artists follow me as well 🧡✨
