Creating this space has been no easy feat. Many hours of planning, saving, building, collecting, styling. One thing @ellemaywatson and I constantly speak about is the importance of content over aesthetic. Why what we make, build, sell, produce, develop, design, source, etc. should always outweigh how it looks. The story, function, purpose, history, and the ‘why’ of why we do everything at 1924 has always come first to everything else. It hasn’t been an easy journey, from struggling to learning curves, money problems and time management, there’s a lot to be learned still as young guns in business. We love what we do, but it doesn’t mean it’s always perfect. Our front counter is a reflection of that: a mix of beautiful and imperfect things, hand made and uneven. But it’s the head of the shop and it tells the story of us best. Whether it’s branding and design, art direction and photography, antiques or made goods, we want everyone’s experience with us to be one of memorable value - to serve a purpose in our local community whether in Australia, USA, abroad or even here on Instagram.
A sneak peek of our shop can be found in our stories, if you haven’t already seen our online store we’ve added fresh antiques, hand made rings and more to it. And now we can happily offer $5 world wide shipping. It’s taken many years to get here, and we plan only to continue. Thank you to the diligence and business of clients, customers, friends and the lot of you for believing in us even when the experience isn’t always perfect. #1924us#home#antiques#shop#life#travel#explore#vintage#generalstore#australia#wood#design#oldschool#mirror#front#typewriter#wool#cameras#film#branding
When the goddess of song adorned herself in mirrors!
Created in less than ten days, Beyonce's outfit for her performance at Isha Ambani’s wedding in December 2018 was a breathtaking creation of gold and silver mirrors surrounded by bugle beads. It infused new combinations of embroidery material that became a reinvention on their own.
