On #nationalrainbowbabyday we celebrate Amelia, she would have been our rainbow baby as well. Her legacy is deeply ingrained in our family, and her short life has had a profound impact on us all. She is missed tremendously and loved so incredibly deeply.
The bear is a weighted bear made by an organization called Molly Bears. They are a company run by volunteers who make bears for parents who have lost their babies. The bear is the same weight as your angel, to provide comfort during an extremely devastating time. It's truly an amazing organization, and I can't express how much my Amelia bear means to me.
Well, it will be 😜 thanks to 1 bad decision, a chat with a good friend @wiltshirefarmhouse and some inspiration such as @tahnee_mariee1@firstname.lastname@example.org we have decided to have a stair runner, and I'm so glad, I love it already!! Bloody loving the house accounts on here, can't wait to find more ideas to put into this house 🏡 (rail update to come, I know it's just too god damn exiting)

I’ve been on a mission to buy less shit. This means making what I do have last longer. It means buying used when I do buy. It means interrogating the company beyond surface-level branding and looking at their actual policies: not just what they believe, but the actions they’ve committed to.
Do I believe that consumer or lifestyle activism is going to change the world? I don’t. But what I know is that I don’t feel right throwing out my slippers after a year anymore. I want things to last because I want the planet to last.
Capitalism tells us that everything is disposable: including us. I beg to differ. I think that we can build things to last. I think that we ought to nourish ourselves before the burnout-crisis. I believe in our shared capacity to build power, instead of begging for table scraps.
I believe that the little things matter.
Self-care is an inherently anticapitalist practice. It rebels against stratification. It rejects the premise that we are only what we produce or accomplish. Through caring for ourselves, in a way that is custom, intuitive, and kind, we reject the premise of our disposability.
And while these might look like slippers alone, they are a deep act of care. I want slippers that feel good, that support my feet and lower back, and that I won’t have to throw out in a year. Perhaps they’ll last me 2 or 5 or more. I work from home and wear slippers 10 hours a day, year round. Good slippers are not an indulgence, they are a celebration of the actual life I’m living now. They are an act of care for my real life.
What is one act of care you can offer yourself, in the middle of your real life?

School pick up line, I build kids meal dinosaurs. @wendys kids meal comes with the best toys!
For my Dino obsessed child, this makes a mama happy! I stash these under my seat for road trips and/or trail days to keep the girls busy and she found my stash while we waited for Jenna to get out of class.
So this was a chat with the other fellow moms waiting to grab their kindergarteners, cause they see Rylee 4 days a week in only her two dinosaur dresses.
Let’s just say I’m always doing laundry cause it’s considered cute when you wear the same two dresses over and over again when your 3, but it’s highly frown upon and judged if your 35! 🤣🤷🏼♀️. So, I pick and choose my battles and we ain’t having no toddler meltdowns. Mama on the hand, is a hotmess! 😆😬

Does anyone ever wake up thinking something has happened but it hasn’t?! Like for example I woke up thinking I was so glad I ordered something during a sale but as I woke up a little more I realised I DIDNT, I just dreamt I did. Is this normal or have I fully lost the plot?! And yes I missed out 🤣🤣🤣

UNDER CONTRACT IN LESS THAN A WEEK! It’s amazing what staging can do for an empty room. The market is slowing so you need to put your best foot forward. Contact us if you want to sell faster and for more money!
Today is the kids' last day of Summer break, and they made this mama's heart swell by deciding everybody needed to wear Blonde Toast shirts. Daddy put his on later too. ❤️ Seriously, I didn't ask them to - it was all their idea!
As much as I love Summer and wish it was always 75-80 degrees outside, I am finally getting behind the idea of them going back to school tomorrow. In the last few days I can tell they are going stir crazy. They need to see their friends, talk with other kids their age, and be in a learning environment. As much as I hate to see Summer coming to a close, what's best for them is school. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year I will only have Ezra at home with me, so I am hoping that (being pregnant and all) I will have the energy to get out of the house and take him some places. It's good for both of us to do that, especially because I can be kind of a hermit trying to work on my business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you ready for school to start? Why or why not?
🌈Happy National Rainbow Baby Day sweet girl!🌈 August 22 is National Rainbow Baby Day ❤️ The term rainbow baby may not be familiar to people who haven't experienced a loss. But to those of us who have, it has a very deep and even life-changing significance.
Finally tested out making my own stickers with Cricut. Finding good setting to cut right is not easy and it still wasn't the best.
Was going to put them on my large bottle, wasn't gonna work. Tried my bag, not gonna stay. Their new home will end up being my bedroom wall.

Finally after waking up and throwing a little tantrum because she was in her bed she fell asleep in my arms and then I took back to her bed and well I sort of feel accomplished!!!👏🏼👏🏼
•To say that as of today she has been my most difficult child I think would be an understatement BUT SHE IS MINE and we all know how handle them 😉💪🏼💪🏼!!
•I will continue to wear her out and keep going 🤞🏼🤞🏼.
•I will be sad when we change her bed because we DIYed it (tufted only) .

Remember when I posted this weekend about the delicious poke bowl I ate from @poke.perfect? Just wanted to mention again that I absolutely loved their poke bowl! My boyfriend was also very enthusiastic about the poke bowls, so I’m definitely going to order one again via @ubereats_nl. Also eating with chopsticks is hard!
Do you often eat with chopsticks? Any tips to make it less difficult?
I've got so many house-related chores to do on my list and all I want to do is drink tea, eat cookies and then nap! Haha, not likely to happen except for the tea. I've been designing some more, and this is one of the pattern samples I"ve created lately. I can't believe it's almost the end of the week already. I'm really hoping for a little bit of self-care time between now and the weekend. Happy Thursday!

Who am I!? (continued below)
That’s been one of my biggest questions of 2019. Who am I, what’s my purpose!? Things that I was 100% positive of in my 20’s have seemingly come to an abrupt halt in my 30’s. So far 2019 has rocked me to my core in discovering myself, my truth, my purpose and my path.
I’m happy to share that who I am is still unfolding before our eyes. It’s taken me 32 years to really dive into who I am and why I’m here, but better late than never, right!? As a female minority my focus has always been to just blend in, camouflage, assimilate...whatever it takes to not stand out. Sucks but it’s true.
My biggest truth of this year is actually one of those cheesy Pinterest letter-board quotes but I’m going to cling to it fiercely. The quote reads, “you playing small does not serve the world”.
When I look at purpose, passion, heart...my intentions have always been to serve the world. I think I lost myself for a while when it seemed like the norm or the only way forward was to focus on serving myself. That mentality is done and over. Please hold me to it. I’m ready to lose myself in the service of others once again.
I am here in this space and was blessed with this platform to share my truth and I intend to do so. This space...it’s mine and it’s me...messy, raw, flawed and real. If you’re here and in this space with me, thanks for doing life with me. I value you. And I can’t wait to discover more together. Thanks for sharing in my truth. ✌🏽🖤

Literally the definition of a “happy little accident.” 🌹
What does it mean to you to keep your child wild? For us it’s daily trips to the garden to eat and pick fresh veggies, running around in the summer rain barefoot, making friends with wild turkeys and tiny bugs. Simply letting kids be kids and allowing them to experience their world without interference🌸
Ok so I’m not usually the person who celebrates their “birthday month”, but I just gotta throw it back to my birthday again for a second because, umm, HOW DID I LAND THIS GUY?? Breakfast in bed is a Bruner family tradition for birthdays, but Shaun woulda done this anyways even if it wasn’t a tradition. This man loves me and serves me so well. He looked up a recipe for French toast because he knew I wanted something sweet, and it was delicious! I am so humbled by the love and kindness he goes out of his way to show me. He’s just too good for me ❤️ And honestly, I need to step up my game 🙈 I love you more today, I’ll love you more tomorrow @shaun_c_bruner

Products I've (Sort Of) Changed My Mind About.
Glossier BDC - I didn't think much of this skin salve at first since the formula is quite thin, slippery and not moisturizing enough for my lips. But I've enjoyed using this for my tattoos and I sometimes add a little bit of this over my powder highlighter to give it a 'wet' look.
COSRX Advanced Snail Mucin Essence - this is a gentle yet effective product that helped to add some hydration to my skin. But it didn't do much else so I wasn't the biggest fan of it. However, I sort of miss using this product and I feel like my skin hasn't been as hydrated as it was when I was using this essence (even though I'm currently using other HA products). So I may repurchase this in the future.
Revlon Colorstay Foundation (for Oily/Combo Skin) - this used to be my holy grail foundation for years but I just don't like it anymore. I'm not sure if my skin has changed but this foundation is a little too thick and somewhat cakey on my skin. I much prefer foundations that look like skin.
African Extracts Rooibos 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub + Mask - I used to love this stuff as a cleanser and as a quick, in-shower mask. I'm currently using my 5th bottle of it and I feel as though it's not as effective (wrt to helping to heal acne and decongesting my skin) as it used to be.

Happy Sunday Everyone! 🎉
Have any of you tried the new, scented mini Prep + Prime Fix +'s from MAC? I recently purchased the watermelon variant and I really like it. This is a lovely finishing spray that removes any powderiness and makes my complexion makeup look more 'skin-like'. The nozzle allows for a fine and even mist and this spray is also super refreshing on the skin. The watermelon scent is a little too artificial but I don't mind this that much. All in all, it's a great addition to my collection. #burgundyxmac

Makeup Review: Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder (mini size from Cult Beauty).
This is a super hyped up product that I did not like at all. Firstly, the holes in sifter are so small so I struggled to get enough powder out of the tub. Secondly, the powder isn't as finely milled as I would've liked it to be. But, despite this, the powder wasn't chunky or uneven when applied to the skin. My main problem with this powder is that it didn't actually set my makeup. Because of this, the liquid makeup on my face creased, transferred and didn't last as long as it usually does. Also, this powder looked super cakey on my skin and emphasized every bit of acne, texture and lines. Seriously, this powder settled into lines and texture I didn't even know I had. My undereye area looked drier than the Sahara desert. On a more positive note, the powder didn't leave a white cast on my skin.
I ended up decluttering this product after a few uses and I definitely will not repurchase. That being said, a lot of people love this powder so what may not work for me may work for you (and vice versa). Have you tried this product? Comment down below! #burgundyxhourglass

I can't believe I've already hit pan on my Nyx Matte Bronzer (Deep Tan). I purchased it in March and I've been using it around 80% of the time I do my makeup. It's a lovely bronzer - perfect warm shade for my NC45 skin tone and the formula is effortless (easy to blend and long-lasting). Since taking this photo, the pan size has already increased. Because of this, I've decided to add this product to my 2019 Project Pan.
Book Review: An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen (*gifted).
Plot: With the hopes of earning some extra cash, Jessica signs up to participate in a survey on ethics and morality. Sounds simple, right? However, the questions become more intense and Jessica soons develops a more personal relationship with the doctor conducting the survey.
My Thoughts: This novel exceeded my expectations! The characters are complex and flawed and the exhilarating action ensured that I finished this novel in one afternoon. Although Jessica is somewhat of an annoying and careless character, I was still rooting for her to overcome the obstacles with which she was faced. Dr Shields, however, is a far more interesting character as the reader catches a glimpse into the thought processes of an exploitative therapist. Also, I find that supporting characters aren't well developed in this type of genre but this novel had fascinating supporting characters. If you were a fan of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, you'll probably enjoy this as well.
No filter, all love. Mama had a mild stroke yesterday...which is why we are moving our wedding month. Not a big sacrifice for us, wedding won't be complete without our moms anyway. Feel better soon, ma. I love you. #makisgreatestkatch

Catrice Glam & Doll Volume Mascara - this mascara added some length to my lashes but didn't add much volume. I prefer a more dramatic lash look so I ended up using this as a mascara for my lower lash line.
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer - this is a super hyped up product but it did nothing for my skin. It didn't blur any pores nor did it prolong the wear of my makeup. It's not terrible but not something I'll repurchase.
Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel - I had high expectations for this product since it's formulated for oily, acne-prone skin. But it felt dry and way too matte on my skin.
Lush Cleansing Balms (Jade Roller and Tea Totaler) - this did not work well with my skin. The formula is a bit too thick, difficult to apply, and too heavy. Plus, the balm only lasted a few uses.
Have you tried any of these products? Comment down below!

When Maki first proposed to me back in 2014, he did it with pizza (lol). I said yes because real love doesn't require a diamond ring. But I'd also like to think good things take time. And this moment happens to be ours. I love you, Maki.
Our most heartfelt gratitude to Lady Vee of Vee Lines for turning our proposal dream into a reality. 6 prongs to symbolize our 6th year anniversary.
