Chicago-based artist Vicki Rawlins constructs whimsical portraits of enigmatic, legendary women using flowers, greenery, sand and other organic objects. These unconventional works of art are captivating not only for their creativity but also for their ephemeral journey to creation and destruction.
Beneath the dandelion, a labyrinth unfurls. “Time moves differently here in the underland “. Earth draws us down, yield
to magic and mystery of what is unseen.
The delicately held
circle of light hovering.
The dark matter of
primordial soul lingering within pine needles;
amassed clinging to earth
second by second,
breath by breath
we reabsorb to
where once we lay.

A Place in Time... work in progress... all photos of the marsh on my road. ❤️ This body of work seeks to explore the human emplacement in nature and our relationship with the wider world around us. It encourages a more mindful approach to the changes in light, weather, seasons, and time of day. ❤️ I love this spot! What nature spot, tree, or water do you see daily? How can you see it more deeply and nurture a deeper sense of your own emplacement?

Oh honey bee, the purest laborer, gently buzzing from above. With no intent to harm, you are drawn to nature’s sweet nectar to provide for all beings. Passionately pollinating so that we may have nourishment. We can't thank you enough for your work. 🐝 Happy World Honey Bee Day. 📸@sarah.smiles9#GaiaHerbs#ConnectingPlantsAndPeople#WorldHoneyBeeDay
Pesta. A personification of the Black Death in Norwegian folklore; an old hag travelling from farm to farm, carrying a broom and rake. Where she brought the broom, everyone died, but if she brought the rake, some survived. Part II of my Kittelsen tribute series. What’s your favourite work by Kittelsen?

My dad used to always make fun of me because I’d be looking for ‘the perfect piece of wood’. He would laugh and tell me, “It doesn’t exist!” I think I learned a lot about life from that lesson. You’re probably not going to get exactly what you want, but it’s about working with what you’ve got ♥️🌲 #beautiful#and#imperfect
