Mt. Manaslu, The eighth highest peak in the world, which is elevated at 8,163m (26,781 ft) above sea level, is located in the ridges of Mansiri Himal in the Gorkha District of Nepal. Regarded as the “mountain of spirit”, Mt. Manaslu is identified as Mt. Kutung in Tibet.
This peak lies about 64km east of Mount Annapurna and it was first climbed by two mountaineers, Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu who ascended to the top on 9th May, 1956.
Ascending this mountain is slightly more technical than that of other peaks such as Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma, however, it is a very popular Expedition among keen Climbers. Among its six routes, the route starting from the south is the most hard hitting while the northeast face route is generally seen as being the most common.
This year we leave on the 5th of September 2019 and next year we leave on 5th September 2020. We will head to Base Camp for our fellow Trekkers and the Climbers will continue on to Summit. Somewhere near the summit, after you slip out of the meditative trance you’ve succumbed to from the tedium of advancing your feet upward through the dark for several hours, the rest of the world dissipates like the mist and it becomes just you and the mountain. Your exterior is calm and consistent, silent with focus, but internally you’re overcome by a torrent of thoughts and emotions. It’s a brilliant moment of self discovery that taps into new corners of your mind. You belief that this mountain has changed you and that the person that went up is not the same person that will be coming down. On the descent, the land of the living sinks back into place, and as you reflect back upwards to where you’ve just been, you come to realize that the mountain was all in your mind. #mountaineering

Throwback to when the wife and I cycled around Korea for a month.
We spent a while down on Jeju Island, which was an absolute dream to cycle.
One night while camping on a beach with the incredible Seongsan Ilchulbong (a volcanic tuff cone) right in front of us, I shot a couple of long exposures. These are the results.
If you ever have a chance to visit Korea, do so. You will be rewarded with incredible people, amazing hospitality and wonderous landscapes. #Korea#jeju#island#volcano#peak#photography#travel#longexposure#nikon#d800#한국#성산일출봉#제주#제주도
