COMPASSION FATIGUE occurs when someone becomes overwhelmed by the suffering of others, and experience less and less compassion over time. Compassion fatigue often strikes people who work in health care, animal welfare, or criminal justice, as well as first responders, therapists, social workers, and similar caring professions. It may also affect journalists who report on tragedies.
Compassion fatigue can have a range of personal and professional consequences. Sufferers may have stress, anxiety, and insomnia, and develop a negative attitude.
Increasingly, as the 24-hour news cycle warns us about political crises, epidemics, natural disasters, and climate change, everyday people also feel compassion fatigue. As a result, some people stop listening to the news, and don’t vote, volunteer, or give to charity.
If you have compassion fatigue, what’s the cure? Ironically, compassion fatigue is cured through self-compassion. Before you can be there for others, you must be there for yourself. Here’s how: * Acknowledge your emotions. Whatever you are feeling, it’s ok to feel that way. Only by acknowledging and experiencing emotions can we move through them. You may need help getting in touch with your emotions. A therapist or support group can help. * Understand your boundaries and communicate them to others. It’s ok to limit the hours you work or avoid certain kinds of news. Be honest with yourself about what works for you and what doesn’t. * Develop self-care rituals. Whether you need a long soak in a hot bath or a sweaty basketball game, a night out with friends or a solo walk in the forest, do whatever makes you feel renewed.
If you are experiencing compassion fatigue, don’t ignore it. Five years ago I knew I was made for more, but I didn’t know exactly WHAT that would look like.....
Did you know I watched my coach for over a YEAR before I said yes? A YEAR!!! And there are girls on my team who watched me for 8 months, 9 months, 10 months, 2 years before they said yes? AND I know there are some of you, who have now watched me for 5 years, and maybe some of you will say yes today or tomorrow... but most of you will continue to watch, until you’re ready to say yes.
Well if you’re reading this... you’re watching. And if you’ve got this far, I know there’s something about all this that pulls on your heart, even just a little bit, that hope, desire for more, because I was there too.
It wasn’t under one day, when I just realized, THIS was how I would create MY more. And it might not be how you create YOURS, because I know it’s not for everyone. It takes hard work, dedication, and vulnerability... but it was “my more” that SAVED my life and helped me feel healthy, happy, passionate, fulfilled, determined, excited to get out of the bed in the morning and set my soul on freaking fire. .
So maybe it’s not your more. But maybe it is. Maybe you feel that tug too. Maybe you have questions. And if you do I would love to share more with you.
I pray for you to have the belief in yourself to just ask.

Sharing my fellow divers deets!
Seven of us met up at a different Timmy's to go over the dive plan that Serena and Terry have developed to get all the updated information they need to monitor the reef balls Reef Balls you may say - "What are those??" Well they are a part of a world wide project to enhance diversity in the ocean...When some habitat is lost to land fills, construction and the like - companies can make up for this by improving water ways, salt marshes or with reef balls. We helped do a census of the plants and animals making their homes on the reef ball complex.
After gathering at Timmy's we drove over to Dominion Diving and connected with Serena and Terry. Loading gear, waivers, and a dive briefing had us prepared to explore the 180 so reef balls laid out off McNab's Island!
Jeff and Tom go first to do video sweeps with their go Pros in the best visibility. They will show layout, cover and fish as wells as other crittlers. Once they were doing well, DDave and Patrica went off to do a bit of video and then concentrate on still shots of one third of the reef balls to show percentage of cover and species grwoing on the. A team of three went next and did individual reef ball shots and critter and plant pictures too.
We found the anchor right amongst the complex so no searching need be done! Visibility was around 4 to 7 m and hazy so picture taking was a bit hard. The surface temperature was around 16 to 18 C with various bottom temperatures down to 10 C, but usually 12-14 C. Dive times varied. The complex ran in the 30-20' depth range at high tide.
We had a great time carefully drifting among the reef balls completely draped in seaweeds taking pictures. One fun thing was to shine a light inside and look for resident lobsters! Several were found and a couple we thought might never leave they were so huge!
We did two dives with a lunch break and some "power ball" treats made by Serena to help fortify us for the second dive.
The second dive was a bit shorter as we wrapped up the work and were getting cool. I took over 400 pictures and a few video clips.

Tired? Don’t “feel” like it? Have so much to do? Which one is it? Which one is your excuse today to not take care of YOU??
Want to know what mine was? I didn’t “feel” like it. The idea of just lounging with my fur babies was SO tempting! But, do you know what? I pushed play anyways. I KNEW I would feel better. So I did Re-Vibe of @morning , which is super low-key and would prepare me for a run. .
Guess what? I STILL didn’t feel like going for a run. Yet I still knew I’d be SO happy I did once I got started. I KNEW the hardest part would be getting started. So, I decided to take my baby boys with me to add some fun this morning for an extra treat. It was SO fun!! Having them with added a new focus. I didn’t care about my pace—I focused on them and keeping us all alive (let’s face it, two pups can become a trip hazard pretty quickly. 😂) I also had to keep a close eye on them to ensure they weren’t too tired, especially since they hadn’t run a long distance in a while (and Finley never had.)
Just over 2 miles was enough for them, even though momma wanted to run more. Ironically, they wanted the ball almost as soon as we got inside the house...😒😂
So don’t let those excuses stop you from taking care of you! Find a way to push past them. For me, I focus on the end result and how amazing I’ll feel. How do you push through your excuses?
Little did I know, soon after this photo was taken that God was gonna open a HUGE door for me to walk through!
I got paid again on Friday. My first check was over $100, my second check was over $400 and my third check was over $700!!! I don’t talk about the business side of Young Living much, but if you ask ANYONE in my family if they thought I would be successful they would have told you a big fat NO 😬. That’s why I didn’t tell any of them when I decided to dive in. I literally couldn’t even help myself. I was so in love with the products and the company at that point that when I learned about how to do the business I was ALL. IN.
I say all of this to maybe give one of you H O P E. I started a business about 3 months ago and I’ve already given myself about a $600 raise. This is real. The big $BUCKS$ friends? They are ATTAINABLE. And no it’s not about the money. It’s about the FREEDOM. The freedom to say, “Y E S”, but to get that freedom it takes MONEY.

Before we owned our water business we owned a home remodeling company: Turn It Around.
We did lots of work for realtors, investors and individuals. Then the market crashed and we got into water purification.
As the years went by our water business just could not compete with the internet or big box stores. So we have closed that door.
With this new found freedom we are taking a do over opportunity with going back to remodeling and handyman work. (make readies of rental properties, flips, small projects, etc.) Holler if you need an estimate or just want to chat about our services we can offer.

⭐️QUESTION OF THE WEEK⭐️(warning this may cause deep thinking and massive change).
Q: What if the thing that got you here is now just an anchor holding you back?
In the beginning - whatever you are doing - there is a learning period that requires you to #masteryourself - it’s getting into the game so that you know what is happening around you.
But at a certain point, all great accomplishments- especially those life changing #purposeful ones require you to refocus your vision, and possibly #changeyourthoughts so you can get to the next level.
It’s not easy, in fact many people miss this step and end up never fulfilling their ultimate #purposeinlife - and that tragic and not necessary.
I stumbled across (literally) a few basic truths that can change the way you see things so the things you see change.
1/ GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING.
Literally look back and see where you’ve been and what you did that got you to where you are. It’s those foundational core things that are essential to launch you to the next level.
2/ MAKE SUBTLE TOUGH DECISIONS.
What in your life are you “settling” with even though you know they need to change? #lookinthemirror and be willing to call yourself out.
3/ SAY YES AND YES.
Usually we limit our thinking to either/or. It’s “I’ll do it later” or not being willing to compromise with smaller goals. Say yes and yes: small wins may not be sexy but do it consistently and amazing BIG things can happen!
The value is not in the novelty, it’s in the utility. Whatever you want that seems so far away are only a step past the excuses and unconscious thoughts that are limiting your progress.
