Portraits are tricky... good thing I have a pretty easy going guinea pig 🙌🏼
Doing my best to practice with different environments, subjects, times of day, and weather. Picking up on more as I go, and looking forward to shooting more than just my gun this season.

Cleaning up photos today and came across this one from a midweek Inter Glacier adventure with @tlsippel. Something about the texture and light perfectly matches my moodiness today. Who’s with me? #MoodyWeekends 📍Puyallup Land

Experimenting with different - 80s film photography looking tones.
From a solo backpacking trip earlier in the summer. There’s something rewarding about being out in the wilderness by yourself - listening to the birds chirp, watching the early morning fog roll in after spending the night stargazing. It’s also a time to reflect and get away from the buzzing of daily life in the city. It continues to be one of my favorite things to do
Alright folks. Im ready to go back to Nepal. Anyone have any projects in mind? #notjoking

Yesterday, @daniellehert, her fiancé Tyler, and I, drove three hours to get to the location they wanted to shoot their engagement photos... and it was completely fogged in 😂 SO, we improvised and found some other locations and honestly I’m not mad about it. Here’s @daniellehert looking like she came straight out of a PNW fairytail 😍

can’t believe we had to go through Avalanche Pass twice 😅 on the way out, a rain storm hit us so we were sliding over huge boulders with our packs trying not to fall in the water (or bust our faces...!). on the way back, the weather was gorgeous, our first sunny day. shortly after this pic, we had an encounter with a 500+ lb black bear on the trail. thankfully @jlandsky came equipped with bear spray but we didn’t end up using it. needless to say we hiked the last 4 hrs out in record speed 😅 #lastsunday#avalanchepass#avalanchelake#adks
CDT SOBO | Day 37 | Viewpoint to Meadow | 30 miles
The day starts with sunshine & a blood pumping climb first thing. This section of trail must be one of the most underrated; rolling hills, meadows & trickling springs dominate the landscape.
The day is spent ascending & descending via dirt road & trail.
In the evening, we walk through pine forest and come out at Lemhi Pass, our last water spot for a good stretch. We go off trail to the Sacajawea Memorial Campground to access a spring, where Merriweather Lewis thought was the location of the headwaters to the Missouri River (the actual location is a spring about 100 miles away on the Divide). We press on into the night, climbing steep Jeep track for a few more miles to a meadow. From here, we have a gorgeous sunset, and a view of Salmon, Idaho from the overlook.

At some point in the future, this four wheeled car will become a derelict machine. A symbol of a previous era that saw rubber mating with asphalt over kilometers, again and again.
But for now, we sit and drive and enjoy the view and stop at viewpoints and click pics and upload them and garner likes. Oh dont forget the editing too.
To the road ahead.
In the picture: @ikooky stretching out after being behind the wheels for a while. @poteytopotahto behind her smartphone clicking away pics to upload in instagram. @ramblesxrants doing nothing for a change.
Shooting canyons is always a special consideration. Most of the time the sun sets much earlier than you would expect. It often leads to much of the canyon being in darkness by the time that the sky begins to light up. However this allows for some great contrast on the walls of rock.
Note to self: It's important to take a rest day... or two... or three. ⠀
I woke up with the intent of going to cycle class and run 3 miles. Guess where I’m at? I’m still in bed. 🙃 After running 12 miles yesterday morning, my legs and body are just simply tired. ⠀
After a couple of months of being consistently active again, this past week I finally saw some results 🎉 but at the same time I noticed how exhausted by body was. Even after yeeears of knowing this, I still have to remind myself that rest days are just as important as those training days. 💆🏽♀️
8/18: Salt and Signs.
I explored these same salt flats in the same car with @matthewdoubleu 5 years earlier. It’s an incredibly weird and unique place. So fun to go back and revisit. The real lasting impact of this day wasn’t salt flats though. It was petroglyphs
I had definitely seen petroglyphs before but for some reason they resonated deeper in my soul this time.
Petroglyphs are intensely intimate. Thousands of years ago, someone took the time to create these pieces of art. Thousands of years later their art is still quite vivid and affecting. To be able to see a physical signature and artifacts from someone who lived in a vastly different world literally on the side of a road is so powerful. Through the thousands of years and endless upheavals, art lives on.
If you are interested I highly recommend Werner Herzog’s “Cave of Forgotten Dreams”.

Trail magic is the best ✨these sweet trail angels set up at the border on weekends welcoming hikers into a new state. They have a tradition of you “washing the dirt” of the previous state off your hands so you can get the new state’s dirt on them. Then you get a shot of celebratory tequila 🍻 and snacks
I saw a comment the other day on a photo of myself. The person criticized me for wearing a sports bra and “full face of makeup” while backpacking.
On other photos (or in person), I’ve seen/heard comments about my relationship status. Or consistent lack thereof in the past.
All I want to say — my relationship status and the clothes on my body are the least interesting things about me. I think the pressure women sometimes feel to wear makeup is a worthwhile conversation, but I don’t think it should be used to discredit what we do with our bodies or, more importantly, our minds. So let’s talk about it, but let’s also be respectful. Mkay?
Traded in my backpack for something a little lighter😍

WELL, HERE WE GO! My new beginning as an expedition filmmaker and photographer. I'm headed 52k deep into the jungles of West Papua, and then upwards into the Alpine beyond 15,000ft elevation and all over nine days. This project is an attempt to film that last crew to ski the very last equatorial glaciers left on Earth. I couldn't be more honored to be invited by Director and friend @jase_hancox. The Last Chance Film #TheLastChanceFilm , more to come friends. Grateful!
We're finally ready. Tomorrow is Ende's 2nd birthday and I believe it's time for us to finally leave Bend, for now. It's up in the air which direction we take, but that's why it's so lovely. It's been just shy of a month of puzzles and now it's go time.
I was only able to make it to one day of our #SonyKandoTrip this year, but I can't believe the love and overwhelming amount of inspiration I receive from this event. My mind has melted and the universe has exploded. It's almost impossible to know where to start.
Thanks to the many people of @sonyalpha for always crushing it. Thank you also for listening to our suggestions to help make the gear truly ours. I can't believe I'm part of something so special. I wish I could tag each and every one of you that spoke to me, but you know who you are and appreciate you.
Now go all of you, be free and continue to create the magic that you do. I'm content and ready. Let's go!
