We finally decided on where to put our @ikeanederland BESTÅ cupboard where all the boardgames will go. Since we recently got a BESTÅ TV cabinet in the same style, we thought it would be nice to have them in the same space. Things are slowly coming together and I couldn't be happier! 🎲

Can't wait for this room to be done, because then we can start setting up some of our furniture and free up space in other areas of the appartement that are currently a mess. We need to add one last coat of paint. 🎨

This guy worked so hard on the appartement this week! Unlike me, he was still on holidays but he has definitely been busy. ❤
I already made a good start at filling the holes in the wall and areas where we cut away some isolation foam, which was used to fill the space inbetween plaster boards since they were too short. Hard to believe that was done by a profesional, but okay.. Kevin finished filling all these gaps and he then sanded the walls, taped off everything and started painting. Today we added a second coat of paint and it looks better than I thought it would, given how crapy the finish of the walls was. I'm pleased!

I recently saw a comment on an apartment post thread that went something like this:
Commenter - "I don't know that I'd consider our apartment a home, because we don't own it and it's not where we plan on living forever, but it does the job for the time being."
I really had to think about that for a little bit. I suppose for some, a house = a home because it's where you invest and own the space. A structure. Granted, you don't own your apartment or studio, or whenever you rent. But, the idea that where you live, where you retreat to at the end of the day and feel safe and loved, and share special moments of your life isn't your home simply because you rent it and didn't take out a mortgage for it just isn't something I'll ever subscribe to.
For me, our little rental IS our home. It's where we've continued to grow as a family. Where my second learned how to walk and my first started school. Where my husband and I planned & celebrated our 15 year wedding renewal. Where we found out we were expecting our third. We've made so many amazing memories here. And not once did we not think this wasn't our home simply because we rent. Renting has never stopped us from living our lives well and it never will.
I hope others think that way too or at least realize there's a lot more to renting than meets the eye. Regardless of your current living situation, just know that your home is the place you are in this very moment. Whether it be rented, owned, leased, whatever. A home does NOT equal an owned structure. It's your place of love. Where your family is. Where you feel safe and comforted and are always the most welcome. Don't wait to make memories or decorate or live the way you want simply because you rent. Love the space you're in.
Make it cozy. Make it warm. Make it inviting. Make it yours. ♥️
Can you believe it has already been a week since debuting these faux floating shelves? The number one question I was asked: Am I going to take the door off so they always show? Not sure yet but I obviously haven't gotten enough of them because I'm sharing the full tutorial on how to build them for your home over on the blog.
The total cost to hide the wire shelves? $40! Budget-friendly and can be completed in a day if you have a few hours to spare. The direct link in my profile to make it easy for you. Also, head on over to stories to see exactly how they work to magically hide those wire shelves.
You. Guys. This just happened.
We all know about junk drawers in a home but does anyone have a junk closet? You know, the one you make sure the door is always shut to? That was our laundry room closet and I finally decided to get it organized this past week. Not only is it organized but I pulled off my best hack yet: faux wooden floating shelves covering the old wire shelves. Swipe for the before.
Everything you see here also came from @Homecentric making this a budget, homeowner, and renter-friendly project anyone can do! And it doesn't stop here. Head on over to the blog to see the other touches we added to the laundry room to make it stylish and functional with items from Home Centric. Link in bio! #sponsored

How's it like renting a boyfriend?! I asked my friend Sara to try it for a day.
P.S. This is a NOT sponsored video but it's so interesting that I had to make a video about it! I was able to get the two boyfriend rentals from Pally and they graciously agreeed!! Thank you all for being good team players.
It’s three weeks until we find out whether it’s Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt who will be our next PM.
For the eventual winner, they’ll have some instant headaches with the housing market.
The government has fallen way short in delivering its yearly target of 300,000 new homes and there do not seem to be any solutions to the shortfall.
To hit new housing targets, the next PM could overhaul the current planning system and reduce the eight weeks that it currently takes to determine an application.
In order not to break the market, the interests of both buyers and developers need to be considered. Under the current government, numerous conditions and taxes have been implemented which have seen many developers and landlords sell up or withdraw from the market. These include loss of tax relief for landlords on mortgage costs, licensing fees in order to rent a property, added developers taxes (CIL), increased number of specialist reports in order to gain planning permission and the insistence of some local councils for developers to pay thousands of pounds in extra fees to have a pre-application meeting.
These costly factors and considerable changes in rental legislation have dampened investors and developers sentiment.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold over the next few weeks and certainly beyond that too. .
