My weekly mileage has been pretty low recently, so I’m happy to say I hit 30 miles this week! I’m feeling pretty good and hoping to gradually build up to doing 50-60 mpw by the Fall. This next week I’m going to keep my mileage pretty low because of the Music City Triathlon on Saturday. I want to be able to race well and feel good!
Today's race was ugly and a mix of emotions for a variety of reasons. So many things went wrong during this race and yet somehow @1beer.1mile managed to get me across the finish-line with a slight PR. The first half of the race I was definitely working but I felt strong; "Comfortably uncomfortable" right, Matt? The second half, well, wow. I can't be mad because I know I left everything out there and the ice bath I had to take at the end said it all, but it wasn't what I had wanted. Somehow it was a bad race with a positive result but in the end it's another day running, a great weekend with the running family, I'm still moving, and that's all that matters.
Thank you Matt for believing in me enough to stick with me and push me through.
Thank you to the crew for coming in for this race weekend and for continuing to take me along on your adventures as true badass runners and for always building me up and making me feel as if I was one of the elites instead of the rookie. .
Thank you to @gerrysmithiii for holding down the fort while I crossed another finish-line towards my goals. I love you.
And thank you @runrocknroll for the event and for doing what you could to keep us runners running.
As a side note, and to really bring awareness to how important it is to be safe, be healthy, and always take care of each other and know that no medal is worth more than you, please keep your positive thoughts out there for the man we saw go down during the race. It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen and thank goodness the community was there to act and get him help. While some runners did CPR, others chased down the ambulance to get him help and I hope he pulled through. We are so lucky that our group, although drained and a bit pained, were still able to celebrate and be together. It made me really appreciate that finish-line so much more.
So here's to another successful weekend chasing goals. And now to ice my legs.
70 Mile Bike 🚴🏽♀️ with 3000+ Elevation Gain followed by 4 Mile Run🏃🏽♀️ Progression on rolling hills 9:37, 9:27, 8:45, 8:18 🎉 ••••••••••••••
Road with 2 friends! I felt strong on the hills and for most of the way. Calloused my mind on the headwinds which we had about 25 miles of. “I am a force of nature! I AM the wind!” Whatever it takes! But man does ice cold water taste 999999x better during long hot humid rides or runs! Who’s with me on that?!

There are a lot of buttons to push, so try one and see what happens...
Now getting back into the swing of things, 2nd day now with some easy jogging for 20-25 minutes and feeling good and excited for the next build here.
Learning more about myself, the next step I am going to take and excited (kind of anxious) for it all to take shape and really dig deep this next season.
📷: Took the morning to take my daughter to the @carnegiescictr and just have some fun. I love going there with her, just so much joy with some of the most simple things.

My favorite workouts are always the ones where I didn’t think would happen. Time was so incredibly limited today so I’m grateful for those moments I was able to put the pedal to the medal. Plus, I was able to ride with @passport.pickles.pushups for one of my rides, which is a major win in my book! .
On another note, can we just talk about the quality of this camera selfie?!? Just upgraded my phone and the difference between the cameras is geeking out my photographer’s heart! Are you team IPhone or Android? I’m team 🍎 #cantleavethecult

I'd like to start this post with a huge shoutout to @adamkoppany on his 2nd @vermont100mile finish with a time of 20:44 and taking home 10th place! I'm happy that I was apart of it and definitely would love to do it again. •
My day started at 2 30 AM hanging out and doing whatever was asked to make sure he got to the start line on time. (Pic 1 he had to take because I look like a zombie) After he took off I took a nap until about 8 am. I met him at the halfway point where he told me he didn't want any food... me knowing from running endurance sports the last year that isn't a good sign so I was a little worried for sure. I met him at the next aid station "margaritaville" with food and coffee to make sure he was still okay. And well he's a savage took some coffee and refilled and kept going but here's where I got to have fun! I took the car back to camp and got geared up to pace him earlier then we talked. I met him at mile 77.5 and paced him to the finish line. I seen his highs and some serious lows during that last 22.5 miles I seen him hit highs and lows pretty quickly but I did my best to keep him moving and in good spirits. The post race got a little rough but I'll let him touch on that if he feels like it.
Crewing and pacing is one thing I will definitely do again. I learned alot and seen alot. It's a incredible experience. If you haven't done it for any of your friends yet I would seriously consider it because you see a whole different side of a race.

Sunday runday? Not for me! The heat & humidity have me slacking on my outdoor running and supposed half marathon training 😬 Looking forward to (slightly) cooler temps this week so I can get back to it 🙌🏻

The Her Turn Half, now the High Tail Half, was my first ever half marathon. I hated it, it was brutal, and I fell in love. This is the one race I run annually, and I believe it gets better every year. .
@skinnyravensports always puts on a great race, but I believe this is one of their best. The support on the course from the other runners is a forced to be reckoned with; I love these women and I love the running community it has created. .
8 months post surgery, I set a great PR (yet again on this course) and finally made the top 3, and second in my age division. I’m so pumped that my hard work this year secured a free entry into the 2020 HTH. I’ll see you next year ladies!
Taking a momentary break from the forward-facing selfies just because. 🧢🤳😜 Also gives me a chance to show off my new hat, which I got specifically for running. Love that it’s vented all over. 🏃♀️As for my run, it started out sluggish and I had to talk myself into running the entire first mile, but soon enough I found my groove and pushed through the entire 5k, running the entire way. 👟👟Felt so good toward the end, I turned it up a notch for that final tenth of a mile. 😃 Did a nice long cool down walk incorporating some dynamic stretching into it per my physical therapist’s suggestion. Really helped my recovery time.😊

2nd time finishers of Vermont 100 and two totally different experiences!!! Last year, weather was perfect and we took the 17,000 feet of elevation gain/relentless hills in our stride. We finished our first 100 with a 3.5 hour buffer for the cutoff time of 30 hours. Fast forward to this weekend. Temps in the 90s with over 50% humidity. Absolutely brutal, especially with all the elevation. Literally spent hours (overall) in the aid stations cooling ourselves down. We did everything we could to keep ourselves “safe” during the hottest hours of the day. This, of course, drastically changed our overall pace, bringing us very close to the cutoff times. Luckily we had banked some miles early in the day so, we figured, once it got dark, we could pick up the pace. However, it had been so draining trying to stay cool and climb those relentless hills (albeit a slow pace) that we were absolutely zapped physically and mentally by the 100k mark. The drop out rate was increasing drastically as the day went on (totally understandable) - and we were TOYING with the idea of calling it quits as we weren’t confident that we could make the cutoffs. Fortunately, we had a great crew and pacers that talked us off climbing on to that ledge. We had to dig really, really deep and we made the decision to continue. And then it was full steam ahead. It was night time so air was cooler. We took on the last 30 miles trying to beat the clock and we succeeded with a finish time of 29:12. This moment will always be one of the best moments of my life...it taught me so much about myself and those that are there for you every step of the way. #RihanaRuns#VT100

One of my favorite quotes as it has so many different meanings and interpretations. I like to think of all the times I turned away from the light to stay in the darkness because i was scared of what might happen. And also all the times I faced the light and embraced it and all the good that came from it. It’s up to you which you choose, but choose wisely and #keeppounding 🤙
Keep putting things off because you will get to it some day? When is some day? Unfortunately we both know when some day is...life is fleeting and you can accept it and take advantage of and wring our every drop or ignore it and tell your grandkids what you almost did?? The choice is yours #keeppounding 🤙

Hard workout tonight. It poured it’s ass of here and was thinking 🤔 hmm maybe it will be too wet after work to ride...then on drive home realized it was totally dry on the roads and went against my own brain telling me to blow off the workout. Went after it as hard as i could and not totally please - felt like I was going to puke a few times and wasn’t able to get to the right power. BUT I did it, I learned from it and now on to the next one!! #keeppounding 🤙

Longest swim. Working on speed tonight. There was a point when I really got into the groove and was super comfortable and at home. Followed shortly after by MASSIVE cramping in my right leg and foot, was really annoyed, but then realized it was an opportunity. If something like that happens open water, what will I do? Panic and freak out, OR try to relax adjust and find a way through. I chose the later, focused on what I could control, and drug that bastard along for 500m until it eased up a little. Thought a lot about @alexzanardi and his amazing accomplishments and used that to help my mind agree it was no bid deal. Ultimately small accomplishment but huge for my head! #keeppounding 🤙

Took off the right day to spend some time with my niece and kids and was able to sneak in a ride too! Could not have asked for a better day! Sunny not too hot low humidity and slight breeze! Was awesome ride and even though the effort was tough I found myself giving thanks that I am physically able to do it at all. So many people are not or choose not to. I am truly blessed. #keeppounding 🤙

Too many people fail to look outside of their own circumstances and situations. The key to growth is breaking through that shell and visualizing something different and putting a plan and steps in place to execute and make it different. Having an open mind is one of the hardest things I have ever had to master. We get so caught up in our own web of lies we tell ourselves that it’s hard to be open to anything, whether a new job, moving to a new location, working on a new project or learning a new skill. The one major thing that training has taught me is that mastery of the body starts with mastery of the mind. And the same can be said for mastery of life, circumstances and your overall well being. I have said this many many times but to change your latitude in life all you need to change is your attitude. I have proven to myself time and time again, if I can dream it up I am 100% certain I can accomplish it. #keeppounding 🤙

Bleibt gesund ! 😊
Ring that PB bell 🔔 🙌🏻
I’ve finally had a minute to sit down and process the day! I guess I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I wasn’t a little bit disappointed when I crossed the finish line...but I’m still thrilled with a 12 second PB at the #ASICSLDN10k
40:03, that sub 40 is mine next time... (@the_running_dan and @mileswithmarcus you were AMAZING pacers 😘 I just didn’t have the legs!) Thank you @asicsfrontrunner for yet another awesome meet up 💗 #ad •
