I'm calling you out! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you have a Macbook or a new iPhone - especially the nice one? You probably don't need it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm not here to demonize nice things. I'm writing this post from a computer that costs $1100. The difference is that I use this computer for heavy audio production. I enjoy producing orchestral scores and hard dance music, both of which demand a lot of processing power that a budget computer cannot supply. Maybe you have a phone with a really good camera because you love photography!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have the nicest device but only use it for social media, streaming video, and basic office tasks, you have taken your money and set it on fire. All of those things can be done on a budget device exactly the same as they are done on the nicest ones. Seriously though, Chromebooks are a really good deal for most people.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We buy the nicest devices for two reasons. I think the main reason is that we think there must be a reason for why everyone buys one. It's just kind of what you do. I disagree though. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm all about research before I make a purchase. What makes a good phone? What do I plan on doing with this computer? How many miles would I actually drive in a luxury car?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you can genuinely justify getting the nicer thing because it suits you better AND you have the means to afford it, I encourage it. You'll end up getting it anyway down the line.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second reason is impressing others. I don't think many people actually get a fancy device any more for this reason. Most that do don't even do it consciously. All I'm saying is that if you want to get something because someone else will think something about you, just remember that they probably don't pay your bills.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spending within your means isn't a limit. Living within your means is freedom.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The tighter your finances, the more important it is to budget and track your spending. When you know where your money is going, you can spend on the things you value and still strive or better yet, thrive, to meet your financial goals.

Saving those pennies...I’m aiming to fill this bad boy before we crack into it 🐽🐷💰
I had to buy new glasses today as I broke my old ones 🤦🏼♀️ It has put a real dent in my budget plan for this month but I’m not going to let it get me down...life happens and sometimes there’s nothing we can do about it, we just have to roll with it!

For me, this is one of the easiest ways to make extra money. Another £50 made towards my savings today 😁
Back to school on a budget?
We homeschooled all 5 of our kids. One of the things we learned to do was stockpile school supplies when they were on sale.
Things like notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, glue, index cards, crayons, colored pencils, and folders can be purchased very inexpensively right before school starts.
Our kids are now adults, and we STILL have school supplies!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have the resources to buy extra and you know that you will use it, now is a great time to stockpile some things for the future!
What is your best tip for sticking to a budget when your kids are heading back to school? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Owning 19 rental units comes with its perks 😁
One of my tenants happens to work in the appliance department at Lowes, and so I get first dibs on all clearance, returns and scratch & dent appliances - HALF OFF markdown price.
I pay for the oldest to go to basketball training (he's OBSESSED!) and then he comes home and teaches his brother everything he learns. That's what I call #savingmoney . #parenting#leadership

I’ve been reading more and more reports of how social media is making younger people more depressed and it makes me sad and angry. Scrolling all day looking at other people’s feeds it may look like everyone is doing better than you. If you feel that way let me tell you that 90% of what you’re seeing is bullshit. It’s a highlight reel of there best moments or straight up staged to help them feel better about a shitty situation. Don’t base your worth or progress on others peoples highlight reels. Curate your feed for the honest ones who have figured real life shit and is trying to pass knowledge along(like me!). The real ones will tell you that when they make it, it’s been 10,15,20 years of struggle to get to the top. They will tell you that struggle never goes away, it just changes form and you become an expert at destroying it. Practice self awareness, spend time thinking about what would make you feel like you have purpose and then pour all your energy into that instead of watching what others are doing. You can do this, I believe in you!! #selfawareness#realtalk#prosperity#cashplan#debtfreecommunity#debtfreejourney#millionairemindset#money #helpmeimpoor#savingmoney#financialfreedom#saving#savings#savingmoneytips#savingaccount#moneysaving#money#lifebydesign

Over the last month, I had to call my car insurance, renters insurance, the internet company, and my gym to let them know I was moving and needed to transfer my services to my new location. While I was on the phone with them, I asked them if they had a better rate available to which all of them answered YES!!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am SAVING:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
$5.34 on renters insurance⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
$7.48 on car insurance⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
$20.00 on internet⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
$15.00 on a gym membership ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
for a total of $47.82!! All for asking.......⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can save more money by checking on your cable, cell phone, and electricity bill. Just call and ask if they have a lower rate. The worst that can happen is hearing a No! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What other bills companies can you call to see if they have a lower rate?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Do you have a gift stash? My youngest daughter seems to get invited to birthday parties quite frequently and running to the store to buy something every time can get expensive. 🎁
I started a gift stash years ago. It started with some gifts my kids received that weren't something they were interested in along with some items I found on ultra clearance ($5 or less for a $15+ value item). We keep adding to the collection as we need to and when the girls get invited to a party they know to shop the basement birthday stash first. If we need to fill in with something from the store to round out the gift, we can. But in shopping what we have first saves us a TON of money, especially on those last minute invites. #savemoney#momhack#giftstash#birthdayparties#savingmoney#debtfreecommunity#debtfreejourney#momonabudget#budgetgoals
Treating yourself well is important, but sacrificing your savings to do so is counterproductive. One way we treat ourselves here is setting aside time to make great food when sales and discounts come around on good cuts of meat, and we grow our own herbs. We enjoy good cooking, but we also enjoy having time to talk, to listen, to have the TV off and just appreciate each other’s company without shelling tons of money going out. I hope these photos inspire you to treat yourself at home and save some dollars doing so! #briggsfinancial#savingmoney#cookingathome#treatyoself

🛑 Do you remember what we discussed last week⁉️ Well...we wanted to make sure we hit this point home! Rates are at a three-year low ↘️📉↘️ and the potential to refinance and save money is ↗️high↗️! It doesn’t cost you any money 🆓 to at least just 📞talk📞 to a lender to see if refinancing would be beneficial for you. Or as Miguel says, if you could save 💵$100💵 a month 🗓 by refinancing and you didn’t know that, it’s kind of like throwing it out the window each month 💸💸💸💸💸. Contact Miguel today to at least open the conversation around refinancing your home 🏡
It’s day 234 of the #nospendyear and all 8 hens are now laying! We have quite the assortment of colors this flock which turns a bowl of hard boiled eggs into an enticing visual. If you keep chickens in your backyard - they will eat your kitchen scraps, turn it into eggs and make the best compost for your garden from their manure. Are they saving me money? Let’s explore this - a bag of organic feed costs $32, however, I am getting about 4 dozen eggs a week. If I were to buy these organic eggs from Costco, it would be $16 each week, equaling approx $64 in eggs per month. The cost of food goes down (and the egg nutrients go up) the more table scraps you feed them. I’m not ashamed to say, my chickens eat a steady diet of peanut butter and jelly sandwich crusts and uneaten veggies from my kids’ plates. #sorrynotsorry Ask away if you have questions on getting started: I LOVE talking chickens!
Buying a car with cash is so daunting to me! It's going to be my next big goal after paying off our debt and saving an emergency fund, and I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous!
But these people give me hope! Jenny from @Jenny_eats_doughnuts and her husband put in the hard work and patience and #SavedUpPaidCash for a family car in 2018!
How'd they do it? They saved $100-300/mo for 3 years and then traded in her Jeep to buy this 2016 VW Tiguan for $17,998. That is INCREDIBLE!
What do you think of this? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Could you do it?
This week I have spent alot of time thinking about 2020 and what my goals are for the following year. I’m pretty happy with 2019 and knowing I will be debt free at some point next year brings alot of excitement.
Aswell as debt freedom, I have other exciting goals planned, such as cash funding a holiday, doubling my emergency fund and making investing a part of my financial life,
My estimated debt free date is Nov 2020 but I am seriously going to try and bring this forward to June 2020. Thats the goal! .
I mentioned last night about having a Debt free party and so excited so many of you would attend 🤗What's the first thing you will do once you’re debt free?
