I’ve just finished weaving! The total length before washing is 5.52m. A couple of years ago I bought these #Harriswool loom cut-offs from @Theseisles , a lady who weaves wonderful items from her motor home around the UK. I was just beginning my weaving journey then and couldn’t resist the wonderful pieces of yarn.
I'm going to make a skirt out of this. The warp is black Shetland wool. #weaversofinstagram #weaving#schacht #schactbabywolf#weavingclothes
Finally! I found a draft that I like for my shawl! I spent some time flipping through the Weavers Book of 8-Shaft Patterns, and found something that struck my fancy. I wanted something that would show off the warp, have some drape, and make the most of the warmth provided by the wool weft - and still be threaded straight draw! I didn't want to do just plain old 2-2 twill for this, but there on page 17 was this handsome draft! Best of all, it's got an easy treadle pattern. I'm thinking of fulling the end piece a bit to give it some added texture, I'm thinking all these little boxes will bubble out a bit, emphasizing the colour more. 😄 Plus it's a great opportunity to take a picture of my shiny new shuttle from #janestaffordtextiles ! #handwoventextiles#gradientwarp#Schacht#weaversofinstagram#weaver#handwoven#cottonandwool
Earlier this week, the little asked me about my spinning wheel, which has sat unused in the corner of my room for approximately four and a half years. That’s her whole life, which is not a coincidence. We pulled it out, dusted it off, oiled it up, and got to work. I felt almost giddy sharing this, one of my great loves, with her. We enjoyed the colors running through our fingers and didn’t worry about ratios or twist. We’ve been spinning a little bit every day since then, and whatever this yarn looks like, it’ll be the best thing to ever come off my wheel.
They are done! My first spin on my #schachtladybug I'm not sure what yardage I have here, but it is A LOT! I'll measure after the yarn gets a soak tomorrow. Right now, width wise, it appears to be a light fingering weight, but I'm hoping it will be a solid fingering weight after the soak or perhaps even sport weight. All bobbins are 2ply, the #akerworksbobbins are a natural colored Cormo spun with a dyed Falkland. The schacht bobbin is the remainder of the Falkland spun with a natural BFL since I ran out of the 4 oz Cormo I had. I have no idea what this yarn will be knit into... #spinnersofinstagram#handspunyarn#schacht#akerworks#spinning#bobbinshot
After a few false starts, I'm finally happy with how this is turning out after moving to a tighter sett. Warp is handdyed (not by me) silk I picked up in Basel at Herbstmesse in 2016. Clasped weft is also silk picked up on that trip at Zum roten Faden. Draft is Jewel I (Davidson No. 27).
Rettungshund in Not. #rettungsaktion#hund#rettungshund#feuerwehr#tier#schacht#worbis#mdrth
