I had to jump on @wander_jah_buslife before and after post and do one too. I still can’t believe we did this and I actually live here now. It seems like a lifetime ago that we picked up the bus and it was just a plain old passenger bus. Not anymore! Lots of love in these walls!

Glamping on a 60 acre nature sanctuary while staying in a #skoolie 🚌 cabin has its perks! A stone campfire 🔥 pit right outside your cabin overlooking a spring fed creek and breakfast over hot coals are just some of those perks 😀🙏. 📸 by @ryancleare *
Happy Thursday... Enjoy the rest of the week and summer.🍃
This week in NY is the first time I (Elizabeth) needed a sweater in several months. To me, it's a reminder that seasons are changing and to get ready for October weather in North Dakota at the sugar beet harvest... But the jury is still out on Richard. We may still see him in Hawaiian print and flamingos throughout the fall.🌺
Facts:The shiny bit in the foreground is actually an old motorcycle trophy Richard disassembled to mount on the dash. When space is at a premium, you do what you have to do.😁
We have some new followers and a whole new Instagram to capture our life now that we are traveling full time in a bus!! We are a #homeschooling family that realizes that the learning never stops and nature is the best teacher!! Travel with us as we explore new sights, discover things that the history books might not share and grow in our own personal development as we discover more about ourselves and the world around us!
A #rainbow blessed us as we found our #boondocking spot for the night!
As we pulled up to these rocks, I felt like I was in the midst of giants. Travis and Zion explored the area finding clues left behind by the Native Americans.
Skyann and I made up #elderberrysyrup from the elderberries we harvested a couple days ago.
Head torches at the ready - he's going in to investigate... Skoolie life is not all beautiful interiors, tanned frolicking and roof deck beers at sunset... 6 weeks in and we have the first of our proper maintenance issues.
First the heater failed and now the inverter won't charge. Ugghhh. At least I've spared you all the photo of him sorting out the gnat infestation in the compost toilet. Nice!!! #skoolielife#skoolie#roadtrip#skoolieproblems#lifeontheroad#gapyearfamily#skoolieproblems
Not every day another skoolie parks next to mine. They had a hitch with some jetskis or skidoos towed behind it. I tried to speak with them a few times, asking one of the kids inside if they were in a skoolie. He didn’t seem to understand me, and soon after I found out they’re an all deaf family. I was feeling helpless as they tried to back out of the space, the tow trailer was jumping the curb, but they eventually made it. Hoping this family continues a safe adventure.
I went for a weird green. Is it working? The colour charts in home depot spun me out - paralyzed with choice!

Left David's bro & SIL's quiet, leafy bower this afternoon, heading east over Hwy 2/Stevens Pass Hwy to Leavenworth, a cutesy Bavarian town.
My sister & I were there in the 90s, as well as Lake Chelan, and I really wanted to take him too.
The Cascade Mountains were the reason for this route, however, as you can see visibity was a bit compromised!
The last two weeks have been a very peaceful respite from the road. Absolutely amazing how clusterfucky Seattle traffic is, but across the lake for miles 'n miles it still looks thoroughly unchanged & rural!
Having some slider issues that delayed us by two days.
It was fine when we dumped over a week ago, but this time EGADS! that noise! David troubleshooter andcdisciverd two metal teeth now missing! How the hell does that happen whilst sitting still? Anyway, the Seatle Metro area is waaay too expensive to have that kind of repair done here. So David sacrificed his back to push it back in (the larger living room slide-out.) It was a slow process bc it kept going very crooked!
It’s crazy how some places can make you feel so small! Horseshoe Bend was one of the most breathtaking places we’ve been. You can get right up on the edge which is terrifying as hell but the views are so worth it! 🌅

New bench and cushions! Huge improvement from the futon and SO much storage! This also opened up a big area to allow for a folding :) Woot woot!

We moved... again! Not too far. We're now living in our best friend's backyard. Living the RV life while we finish our bus conversion. We are so grateful to have met these amazing ladies and their family. 😌
Whatever we put out in the Universe is what comes back to us. 💖
If what we want is happiness, peace, love, and friendship, then we should BE happy, peaceful, loving and a true friend.
Life doesn’t just happen. It requires our participation.Whatever surrounds us gives us clues to our inner state.
Be yourself, and surround yourself with what you want to have in your life.

• Night two of sleeping on the bus •
Night two wasn’t as easy as night one for some reason, Zoë may have rolled out of the bunk and got super scared (it doesn’t help that the bus is currently leaning 😳😅) thankfully she was on the bottom bunk. We woke up and got to bring a few more things in the bus, fix the lift so now it goes all the way up (as pictured here) and Although we didn’t get donuts from our usual donut shop, it’s donut day as the kids call Sunday so we found a near by gas station and got some donuts. It was so sweet we brought out his bible to put in his shelf area in his bunk and he wanted to read to Zoë. AJ said, “I love my new play space!” Referring to this area under our king bed. This right here made me so happy. They are falling in love with their soon to be home and we can’t wait to make it more homey!
The kids wanted to sleep there tonight but Tyler works an hour away and AJ starts preschool tomorrow! So we are continuing to stay with friends until we can find some land closer to work while we finish the build. Gotta frame in these back windows and paint!

Got our rooftop access ladder installed today. Master woodworker here at #thecrucibleoakland , David Page (last photo), graciously hand crafted us a beautiful hard maple ladder with walnut inlays on the rungs. Folds up and clips to the ceiling to store out of the way but allow quick access the the rooftop patio! Came out beautifully!
nothing is as prefect as it seems. this bus is a product of sweat, tears, fight. and a relationship i’m frightened to say i’m lucky to have come out alive from. it’s scary to put out something so personal on the internet, especially when it comes to trauma. but i think if anything, it’s the most worth it. for the greater part of the last two years i’ve endured the emotional, mental and physical pain of an abusive relationship. “but WHY did you stay?” people ask. like i didn’t ask myself that question every day. overwhelming feelings of helplessness, confusion, sadness took over my life. the “comfort” of the abuse became familiar. how was it possible that the anxiety of the just THOUGHT of leaving, was enough to make me stay. the questions like: how would i leave? when? who will help me? will i be too fucked up to live a normal life again? to be happy. to travel. do the things i was capable of doing before. to anyone reading this who can resonate on any level: leaving is the scariest and most important thing you will ever do. NO ONE is worth stopping you from living the life you’ve dreamt of, the life you deserve. seek the support, do everything in your means. we are so much braver than we think. even in your darkest moments i hope that you know that you are loved. you deserve love. life is such a precious thing and our time here is so limited. it’s worth fighting like hell for. now is the time for healing.
i’m grateful to say that i am now SAFE and despite the natural struggle of such a difficult transition, i’m happier than i’ve been in literally— years.
when it comes to the bus, she’s my holy place. still unfinished but we are very very close. progress resumes soon. 🙏🏻

That feeling when you’ve already accomplished everything on your to-do list for the day and it’s only noon.
Even living on a bus, our tasks can sometimes be overwhelming and our workflow, while some might not understand it, can feel like a never ending tunnel.
We always communicate the need to prioritize ourselves over the work we create for ourselves (YouTube, digital downloads, Instagram) and recently have found it much easier to accomplish.
What is your best tip to prioritize your work life balance?

This is an up-to-date pic of the front area. We've had many questions about seating and a few about extra storage so there you have it. The cushions are outdoor furniture cushions so they're water and stain resistant which is ideal for us.
The checkered material is a throw that we keep over them so we can toss it in the wash as needed. The cushions are spot clean only with no zippers. The throw really helps to keep the couch clean with Mr. Beebles. We won't blame it all on him...we can be messy too 😊
We didn't make the cushions but as you can see they fit perfectly. A lot of planning went into every inch of the bus prior to even starting the build. Under the couch we keep winter stuff like jackets, coats, boots, scarfs etc. We rotate the things in our closet seasonally. It helps us to keep things organized. We also have four storage boxes under the bus but those are for things like tools, camping gear and every things else one would store in a garage or shed. We'll share more storage solutions in the upcoming posts.
Fall is in the air. 🍂
We’re welcoming the cooler morning and evening temperatures after the hot days of summer. ☀️
For now, windows down, hammock up, relaxing the day away with a breeze.
Where’s your favorite fall retreat?
