Lake or beach?? I know a picture of a pine cone may not make y’all think of the lake, but it does me. 😊
I absolutely love pine cones cause they remind me of going to Grammy & Poppy’s small lake house in the Piney Woods of east Texas as a kid.
Really it was a double wide with a leaky window and a bathroom big enough for a toddler-sized adult, but it was so magical.
There were cows in the pasture across the street and blackberries lining the fence that we used to make cobbler, which my cousin Autumn & I would promptly eat with Grammy as soon as Poppy & the dads left to go night fishing.
Then in front of the house there was the boathouse that led out to the dock. I was fully convinced that trolls lived under the little bridge to get into the boathouse. 🤷🏼♀️. And all around, shading us from a little bit of the Texas heat, were gorgeous pine trees, pine cones & pine needles. They smelled amazing, too.
There’s something about waking up to the smell & feel of lake air and breakfast sausage on the griddle that is just good for the soul, you know?
I learned to fish & tube & ski on that lake, and walked on the muddy bottom and watched fireworks over the dark water on the 4th of July, and I loved every second of it.
That’s why I’ll always be #teamlake 😊
How many times have you caught yourself wishing you were somewhere on a beach? 🏝 When Colton and I were planning our honeymoon (was that only a year ago??), we kept telling each other, “I don’t care where we go, as long as we’re somewhere on a beach.” That phrase, “somewhere on a beach,” became a repeated mantra between the two of us. If only we were somewhere on a beach, we could relax and reset our bodies, minds, and souls.
Since I just started a new job where I haven’t been able to earn vacation hours, Colton and I don’t yet have the luxury of a week-long beach vacation or road trip this year. (That will come next year!) So we have to improvise and seize vacay opportunities where and when we can.
This weekend, we’re traveling to Houston to celebrate the wedding of an an old family friend and we’re so excited to have an excuse to get away! Then we’re sneaking away to Galveston for the rest of our extended weekend for a little time somewhere on a beach. ❤️
He is both shy and bold. He is loyal and set in his ways. He is wearing the same clothes he had 10 years ago. I want him to wear different sunglasses, he doesn’t love every hat of mine. We are doing this thing together. @rolandprosound
