🧐 Contrary to what you often see in TV series, Chinese ladies back in the old time were often circumscribed to their family's house only 😓. Unable to walk long distances due to their foot binding custom, they probably spent most of the time daydreaming about the world outside those walls ⛅.
We visited one of those ancient houses in Suzhou on a sunny day. Wearing an ancient female costume, my companion was perhaps trying to imagine how life was like for girls like her in the past. It's kinda sarcastic to think about that 😂 considering the fact that we were two independent young women travelling in China for 10 days on our own.
How dramatically life has changed!💥
1"For the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the market place; 4and to them he said, `You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went. 5Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing; and he said to them, `Why do you stand here idle all day?' 7They said to him, `Because no one has hired us.' The stilt houses are usually divided into two parts, the front part and the rear part. In front of the house is a corridor formed by wood balusters with a height of about one meter. Suspended windows were equipped in some houses for rest and enjoying cool.
The unique geographic environment, together with the condition that many ethnic groups live here, has given birth to Xiangxi (Western of Hunan) stilt houses which are very unique, elegant, close to rivers as well as mountains and abundant in trees.
