L’ironman Vichy c’est dans 2 jours et je dois dire que je ne réalise toujours pas... Je suis allé courir et nager ce matin comme si de rien était aha. Je profite de chaque instant en attendant le fameux « bip-bip-biiiip » 🙈🔥 .
En tout cas une chose est sur, je suis heureuse d’être ici 🤩 .

I’ve always been open that I run out of obligation, so the mileage I‘ve logged in the last two months is shocking—as in my mother doesn’t believe me when I say I just returned from a run 😹
But as with everything else I do, I seek out discomfort and make it comfortable. AND AND AND, I found a way to turn my progress into data points. So here we are.
From logging ~20K a month kicking and screaming, to currently logging ~96K a month, easy. Looking forward to hammering out 10K a day, at Zone 2.
What gets measured, gets managed. AND BEATEN. #KnowYourNumbers from @flyingdonv. He took about a pint of blood WHILE I was running but mah boi has a way to make you get into a committed relationship with a treadmill—I literally FELL in love. Ang tanga ko beh! 😅

As I wrote some weeks ago, leading into the 2018 IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, I purchased and consumed 150 Nuun Hydration tablets, all in a bid to stay hydrated. I’m now working directly with Nuun and as part of my commitment to our partnership, I will publish a number of education posts that focus on the topic of hydration. The goal is simple, it’s not to sell you @nuunhydration, it’s to raise your awareness on the importance of hydration and electrolyte consumption. Here comes Post No. 1 😊 Hydration when swimming, should you do it, is it necessary, what do I think?
Many think that we don’t sweat when we are swimming. This is not the case, we do sweat when we swim. If we’re working hard and the water is warm, we’ll be sweating more. Just like when we train at higher intensity on land, we sweat more. In the water it’s no different. Contained in our sweat is sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium and calcium, these are all electrolytes that need to be replenished when lost. If we are not replenishing what we loose, our chance of under performance dramatically increases. Fluid balance, muscle contraction and neural activity, are all effected by the electrolytes in our body. So for this reason my advice is to hydrate when swimming, not only with water but with electrolytes. As an additional tip, if you swim early in the morning remember that we loose electrolytes during our sleep and we can often wake up not optimally hydrated.

"Full distance triathlon under the midnight sun. My first triathlon outside Estonia. Not an extreme triathlon, but neither a simple one. Less than 50 participants, so mainly on my own. Start was at midnight, never gets dark during night. Swim was shortened to 750 m, because water temperature was 13°C. And it rained throughout the race - during bike and run. Air temperature was 5...10°C. Bike course had something for everybody - inclines-declines and flat riding, all with great views. I was soaking wet after already first 10 km. 16 athletes did not continue to the run. Run course was very versatile - inclines-declines, flat road, asphalt, gravel, technical trail with roots and rocks. Unfortunately the run course was shortened as well, since the weather conditions were too dangerous at the hill top (heavy rain and strong winds with wind chill below 0°C), thus hill climb for the end was cancelled during the race and we had to run only 31 km. (The hill is visible at the background of the swim start picture.) I managed to finish 6th, in general there were 27 finishers out of 43 who started. A bit disappointed about the shortened course and lack of suffering, but I did get an adventure I went looking for."
