This is Luke.
A year ago, Luke hit rock bottom.
His rent was due, but his bank account was practically empty. Luke had just $13.07 to his name.
On top of that, his car broke down and he couldn't afford to fix it. Getting to and from work suddenly meant a 6 mile walk in each direction.
It had already been a hard year up until that point. He was constantly behind on rent and could never seem to catch up. The financial stress affected his mood, livelihood, and entire outlook on life.
Luke dreamed of a different life. He wanted to see the world!
He had grown up watching guys like Anthony Bourdain on TV and always fantasized about living their lives of travel, new experiences, and adventure.
But at 23 years old, Luke felt STUCK. Trapped in a dead end job that he couldn't afford to escape. If life was a race to the bottom, he was the rat.

Just a friendly little reminder to take a deep breath, stop comparing your real life to someone’s highlight reel, and make plans with yourself to do something your future self will thank you for! Whether that’s wine (it is #nationalroséday afterall) , yoga, spin class, Pilates ( just a few of my favs) reading a real book, doing a face mask, whatever self care looks likes for you, go do that! Ps: that likely doesn’t include mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, just saying! 💁🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🧖🏻♀️💃🏼 PPS: tagged a few of my fav insta accounts in this pic if you need some new body positive, bad ass babes to follow! #boholuxetravels#yogaeverydamnday#selftimer#selfcare

What an incredible weekend in #Seward ! Kara and I saw 2 super pods of orcas in Kenai Fjords National Park with @majormarinetours, had some fantastic outdoor adventures and a yoga photoshoot on Tonsina beach and I got to hike Mount Marathon! There's too many photos and drone videos with school starting up again. I'm off to my classroom today but will get through them soon and share. I'm excited to write about Seward on the blog but, until then, I hope you enjoy some of the forest behind @saltedrootsyoga. Their lodge is going to be amazing and I can't wait to see the construction continue.

we know it to mean "hello" and "goodbye" but it has over 100 meanings to hawaiians. "alo" means "to share" or "be in the presence of" and "ha" is "the breath of life" put them together and you're sharing the breath of life, much more powerful than a simple greeting. it's a reminder to stay present and together in your interactions, that we're all on this planet to live life sharing. take the time to live with aloha and you'll probably feel more at peace.
This weekend brings me back to #Seward and I'm super excited to go on a whale watching glacier cruise this afternoon! Going to be exploring with @kara_traveling_yogi and doing some hiking tomorrow then yoga with @saltedrootsyoga. We've got gorgeous weather and am hoping for some great wildlife today!
What starts with Greece and ends with #Iceland ?
Our next #Eurotrip ! 🍾😯🎉🎒🛩
We leave next week for a five month trip that starts in Greece ... well, technically we have a one-day stop-over in Barcelona, but then we'll be exploring Greece for a few weeks before we move onto other to-be-decided countries before ending our trip with an #Icelandic Christmas! We're hoping to see some countries we didn't last year, so if you have any tips for the Western European, Baltic, and Scandinavian countries, please send those our way! 😘

Difficult #SundayFunday decisions: 🐉 or 🦄?! If you saw my post a little while back, you already know what I went for! The floatie was so massive that I had to duck the head whenever going under the lazy river bridges, but boy was it fun to ride! ♡// #AlanaInMexico
📍Four Seasons, Punta Mita, Mexico
Hey you, Lauren here! Something’s been on my mind lately, and I think it’s time to CLEAR THE AIR. You might take a look at our Instagram feed and think we’re always happy, jet-setting around the world, but the REALITY is traveling and travel blogging seriously take their toll on us! We struggle with homesickness and moments of sadness, and there have been many times we’ve been so exhausted while traveling we struggle getting out of bed in the morning. This picture was taken after we had been living out of our backpacks for MONTHS, and had just crossed the border by land into the Xinjiang Province of China from Mongolia, after having spent 6 amazing but GRUELING weeks in Mongolia, where 36-hour bus rides were the norm and a typical meal could mean anything from slightly rotten horse meat to mutton and fried dough. But this picture was one of the first times I felt happy to be traveling again, shaking the Mongolian cold off and soaking in the nice warm desert sun—but it came after feeling really sad and isolated for weeks. Now I look back, and I can’t believe how LUCKY I was to have had that experience, everything, all of it, and I realize how much stronger it’s made me as a person. It’s been a huge lesson for me to just appreciate each and every single day, from the crazy to the most mundane, NOT JUST THE “INSTAGRAM-WORTHY” moments, and I want you to do the same! LOVE YOUR LIFE, because it’s the ONLY life you have, and don’t ever forget that even the people leading the most “glamorous”-seeming lives are likely struggling themselves!
