🇬🇧 Wandering around Ayamonte. In this nice town I've been eating some great snacks. Spain has also been battered by the crisis and in the south is noticeable. A lot of local businesses closed, tourism helps to keep some houses open, especially restaurants. In this square, beautiful by the way, you can often see children running and playing, while the older ones take shelter in the shadows of palm trees.
I made it to an international travelers’ gathering the first night in the apartment in Sarajevo, the results of which were A) I learned of a website that displays the departure schedules for domestic buses inside of Bosnia and B ) I slept late enough that I had to skip making myself breakfast to make it to a bus leaving sufficiently early to allow me to make it to a city I’d seen great things about online in time for me to get back to Sarajevo the same day.
With an eye on Google Maps and my phone’s clock, I rushed to get dressed and ran to find a taxi to the bus station. Within five minutes of flagging the taxi down, I was out at the station and in line for the mid-morning bus. It was getting down to the wire to make it, so I asked the two women in front of me if I could skip the line because I was in a hurry and they agreed. I asked for a ticket to Mostar and the cashier informed me that the bus had left just minutes earlier; turns out, the website I’d learned about the previous night listed it as a 10:00 AM departure, when in fact it was scheduled for 9:55.
Fortunately, the imprecise bus schedule website had also failed to mention there was another bus going to the same city just 90 minutes later. I took some comfort in this as I knew it would allow me time to find breakfast.
With an eye toward staying close by to minimize my return walk to the station, I chose a Western-style hotel, where I was quickly seated and offered a menu. I ordered a beef soup, guessing that it would be a quick one to prepare. My waiter soon returned with a bowl so regal that I would have paid the full bill just for the privilege of having had this thing placed in front of me.
With the warmth of the soup as partial fuel, I made it out of the hotel and back to the station in plenty of time and finally got a chance to see Bosnia beyond the capital. (Continued in next post)
As much as I love exploring new cities, nothing beats spending time out in the mountains. Nature has such calming powers. Whenever I'm stressed or have too much in my head, all I have to do is head out to the mountains and *puff* like magic, it's all better.
Since moving to Munich, I've started to enjoy solo hiking as much as I enjoy solo travelling. It's a bit scary at the beginning, but with a bit of planning and preparation, everything usually works out. Then it is you and nature! 🌿
I took an adventure yesterday with my co-workers and a friend. It was my very FIRST time canoeing and it was so amazingly magical. Especially, in the early morning as the world awakens and the wildlife is up and about. We saw lots of herons, ducks, cormorants, swans, a turtle, hawks, a muskrat and fish. We missed the deer and beavers so I am determined to do this again in a couple weeks so I can hopefully catch them in their natural habitats. I think what was most precious about the entire experience was being present and noticing how quiet it was sometimes. I love solitude and I especially love it when I am in awe of nature’s wonders. There is a transcendence of self when we realize how small we are in such a big world. 🌿
There is something about floating past a giant patch of lily pads and seeing everything in its own balance that brings peace to the soul. It kind of makes all the stress and tension you hold inside of you melt away. Sometimes, all we need is some nature to make us feel whole and connected again. I think living in a big city where life is all about the hustle makes us forget that we are apart of this. It makes me realize that I love plants because I want to bring the essence of what I feel out here into my home. My plant collection is a bit chaotic because I see beauty in so many forms and I especially like things that are unconventional and maybe a bit difficult (a reflection of me, haha). While I do seek perfection within the pursuit of best care practices for my plants. I do not impose that perfection to what nature has already made perfect in its own way with balance and adaptation in mind. 🌿
Huge thanks to @adamajball for taking the time to arrange this! Shout out to my friend and manager, Greg, whose re-orientating skills saved the canoe from hitting any shorelines, trees, etc. @Anshumidave for being just as in awe as me and my steady paddle buddy. ❤️ And, finally @Tisajohn24 my assistant manager for navigating while honestly looking so suave in his own gear. Haha.

Wherever I go I always seem to find a winery... or do the wineries find me? 🤔 Ixsir Winery’s tasting room is situated on the top of a hill with views for days. They’ve got outside seating and a full restaurant menu so you can sit, sip and savor all afternoon. Where are the wine lovers at?
Give me ALL the babies, sweet summer sunshine, endless sunflowers, and I’ll be a happy Gal🌻

#ad The very first time I visited Seattle, it was for a job interview. I remember I had my interview on the next day and I asked my friend, if there was one thing I could see in Seattle today what should it be. And Kerry Park was the instant answer!
I spent hours that night just staring at the beautiful skyline that night, and I can spend hours today doing just the same. That’s Kerry Park for me! 😊
Living so close to Kerry Park now is such a blessing! It’s my go-to place after work. 😌
And what better way to re-energize myself after a long day at work than these amazing @uptimeenergy Drinks! Do check them out at a @7eleven near you. #uptimebloodorange711
