Summer Dry Sadness☀️ .
During this time of year, the weather & sunshine tends to make my scalp dry. Even sunburnt if I’m out in the sun long enough. The Serene Scalp Soothing Leave-On Treatment is amazing for instant relief. Using this lightweight and fast-absorbing, leave-on treatment soothes and calms my scalp while removing any loose dry skin. You can apply it while your hair is wet or dry , directly on the area that is irritated. .
Key ingredients :
Peppermint Oil for cooling the scalp, Cucumber & Chamomile calms, & Aloe extract to nourish and soothe! Plus a Beta Hydroxy Acid to gently exfoliate any dry skin on the scalp! .
*💇♀️Stylist tip: Use this post color treatment for that post color itch. Your clients will thank you ! #TeamOribe
Those of you who have been hanging out with me for a while know that for the last six years, I have maintained a lifestyle where I eat healthfully and work out 4-6 days every week, and that has done wonders for me in just about every aspect of my life, as far as sanity, mood, and healthy weight maintenance. ⠀
However, within the last year, I have noticed some shifts that were bound to happen with age, and that I kind of expected. But what I DIDN’T expect was not being able to fix those things easily with the same tools I’d been using for years. 😜⠀
I knew once I hit 40 that things would start to shift physically as far as metabolism and other signs of aging, but those really didn’t hit me until the last 10-12 months. In those last few months, my weight has slowly crept up to a set point about 10 lbs higher than it was, my joints have started to bother me in ways they didn’t used to, particularly my knees/elbows, and I actually have some early signs of arthritis in one finger on each hand, which causes problems with grip and functionality when it hits. None of these things are unmanageable...yet...but I have been trying to get ahead of all of it before it does become a bigger problem. ⠀
I have been tweaking my workouts and my diet over the last year to see if I could do anything to help with these things, and it just hasn’t worked. So I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can, looking around at both clinical information, as well as at naturally-based products I haven’t tried that fit what I’ve been learning about. ⠀
So I’ve landed on this little spoonful of awesome sauce that A, provides what I think I’ve been missing according to what I’ve researched, and B, have heard from quite a few people I trust that it’s helped them with the same issues I’ve been dealing with. ⠀
So...bottoms up...I’ll keep you posted! 💗
I was juggling a million different things this year, and was trying to put my best effort into all of it.
Grad school, research and thesis writing, learning the in’s and outs of teaching centerbase SPED, finding out about betrayal from those who should have been supporting me.
On the inside, I was a mess. And it started to show on the outside too. Sometime around January I noticed my hairline looking different. I had these short baby hairs that stuck straight up like I’d been electrocuted. I gave up on my natural curls because they were no longer forming. I accepted that I had bad hair now and that’s just the way it would be. I had too much else to think about than my hair.
My hairstylist (and sister) told me it was most likely stress related hair loss. And the Mayo Clinic agrees- “significant stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase”.
This summer I’m really trying to take better care of myself. I switched to naturally based hair products a month ago and began using an intense repair spray to try regrowing my lost hair.
✨I’m a month in now, and I honestly can’t believe the progress. The short hairs pulled forward in the first picture have never looked like that before, and they curl naturally now. When it’s all pushed back, I can see my hairline looking fuller and more filled in than it did before.
I’ve always been the type of person who didn’t care about their hair. But I’m finally starting to love it and enjoy seeing it transform with every wash.
Has anyone else dealt with hair loss? Whether it was stress related, postpartum, or something else?
Why is NOW the time to join Monat? 💁🏼♀️ Everyone already buys shampoo and uses it. You don’t have to change anyone’s buying habits! And it doesn’t hurt that Monat has 1 million customers and a less than 1% return rate on our products. Even though we offer a 30 day money back guarantee! 💰Monat pays almost twice as much as just about every other company in our industry. ⏰ Monat is only 4 years old! You get to be the one to share it with THE WORLD! Literally the WORLD! We are already in 3 countries with more plans for global expansion this year and even expansion to new continents in the near future. 💸 Profit Sharing - Monat just announced that we have the opportunity to earn shares in the company. We are on track to be a billion dollar company in the next few years. Imagine getting to earn shares with Nike, Starbucks, Apple, or Amazon.
If those reasons don’t convince you...you might need to check your pulse!
Felt a little inspiration the other evening so I sat on my couch and whipped up this gorgeous updo 💁🏻♀️ .
No heat, just @surfacehairhealth Airlift for texture & grip!
Shout out to @caraleestyles & @theupdogirl for the inspiration
Is anyone here doing #plasticfreejuly this year? It’s not something that I’m committing to this time round, but I am going to try and up the content on low-waste and plastic free options. Let me know if you are and please tag me in your beauty posts so I can see your swaps!
Anyway, let’s start off with a guide to the different @Lush shampoo bars;
🧼 seanik - for more volume
🧼 godiva - conditions and softens
🧼 soak and float - for sensitive scalps
🧼 new - stimulates the scalp for healthy hair
🧼 jumping juniper - for a good, deep clean
🧼 montalbano - for shine and strength
🧼 jason and argan oil - for softness and shine
🧼 trichomania - moisturising and cares for
🧼 scalp tin - great for travels, but not necessary
I love Lush shampoo bars because their range is extensive - you’ll be able to find the perfect bar for your hair type. Plus, unlike most companies, they have been working on #plasticfree beauty products for decades so have tonnes of knowledge on how to make them work. My favourite is Soak and Float as it’s really kind to my sensitive scalp. Let me know your tried and tested favourites!
one year ago you would’ve never seen me with hair this short.. because I was always more comfortable putting my frizzy, unruly hair up in a bun or ponytail 🤷🏻♀️ but...
the hair products I’ve been using for almost a year now have given me the confidence to wear my hair down and the ability to actually style it the way I want to, and the confidence to cut my hair short the way I’ve always wanted to but never felt like I could pull off.
this picture was taken 3 months ago when I first decided to do the big chop, my hair was all the way down to my butt prior. since then, my hairs grown a couple inches and looking back at this picture I’m really thinking it’s about time to call up the salon and book another appointment for a chop ✂️
It might sound corny, something as simple as hair products giving me a much higher self confidence, but that’s how it is! + not only do I love the products and the results they give me, but I’ve managed to build an income through them as well.
feeling blessed on this Friday 👏🏻 if you’re in the market for some bomb hair product, check out my story or message me & we can chat 💬
